Regional Agricultural information and Learning System (RAILS)iaaldafrika
The document discusses the Regional Agricultural Information and Learning Systems (RAILS) of the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA). RAILS aims to improve access to agricultural knowledge and technologies for stakeholders in Africa. It will work with sub-regional organizations to build synergies among information systems and facilitate knowledge exchange both within Africa and globally. The challenges of information flows in African agricultural research include information overload, lack of sharing, and barriers to access. RAILS will contribute by advocating for more investment, improving stakeholders' access and contribution to knowledge, facilitating information system synergies and learning, and building an African platform for agricultural information and learning.

The document presents the Rural Sanitation Model and Strategy (R-SMS) for Ghana. It notes poor sanitation costs Ghana's economy significantly each year and that most Ghanaians still practice open defecation or use unimproved latrines. The R-SMS aims to build capacity, create demand, and ensure supply of sanitation infrastructure and behaviors to help Ghana achieve its Millennium Development Goals for sanitation access. It proposes pillars of enabling the environment through advocacy, building capacity through training, creating demand through community-led approaches, and ensuring supply of affordable technologies. Key actions include training community facilitators, using formative research to understand demand, commercializing latrine marketing, and monitoring progress toward indicators like

The 2023 Reuters Digital News Report provides evidence that news consumption habits continue to change as younger generations come of age relying primarily on digital media. While there are differences between countries and generations, people's platform preferences do not typically regress as they age. The report surveys 46 markets representing over half the world's population and finds that the public is increasingly voting with their attention and embracing digital media, presenting challenges for news organizations to connect with audiences online. The report also examines attitudes toward algorithms, news engagement over time, drivers of media criticism, the importance of public service media, and the rise of news podcasts.

Communicating research in the cameroonian forestry sectorSandrinEbak
The document summarizes a presentation on communicating forestry research in Cameroon. It discusses two research institutions, CIFOR and CED, and how they influenced policy through direct and indirect communication strategies. CIFOR had influence on domestic timber market regulations by discussing evidence directly with the Ministry and collaborating on publications. CED influenced reconsideration of an agricultural contract by distributing evidence of issues to media and NGOs. Success requires continuous, patient communication that responds to government interests while building external pressure through networking. However, influence is limited by poor governance as decision-makers have hidden agendas and access to forestry information is informal.
The document discusses lessons learned from the Agricultural Science and Technology Indicators (ASTI) initiative in communicating data on agricultural research and development. ASTI collects data on investments, capacity, and institutional developments in agricultural R&D from developing countries. It faces challenges in communicating this diverse data to various stakeholders. Key lessons are to work with national and regional partners, tailor communication to different audiences, and establish analytical capacity to address policy questions and support effective agricultural research systems.
This document discusses monitoring and reporting procedures for Strategic Objective 3 (SO3) of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). It provides an overview of SO3 indicators and qualifiers used to measure programme implementation, outputs, outcomes, and impacts. It also presents results from the 2014 mid-term review, including the number of countries and regional institutions supported. Lessons learned from the 2014 reporting process are discussed, such as the need for improved headquarters communication and qualitative reporting that links monitoring to work planning. Country-level results for SO3 projects in the Near East region are provided, with over 450 total projects ongoing across 19 countries. Contact information is given for the SO3 monitoring focal point and reporting assistant.

GFAR webinar on farm radio, community radio and participatory radioGCARD Conferences
The webinar presentation discussed the use of radio to promote agriculture among youth in Tanzania. It described how the organization Well Told Story used their Shujaaz radio program to address factors influencing youth perceptions of agriculture, such as the need to see connections between agriculture and dreams/money, lack of knowledge about agriculture value chains, and few role models in the field. The presentation shared initial research findings on youth views and the strategies used in the radio program, such as featuring success stories and role models, to positively influence attitudes. It noted some lessons learned so far and goals to continue using radio to provide information and shift social norms regarding agriculture as a career.

Discover the cutting-edge telemetry solution implemented for Alan Wake 2 by Remedy Entertainment in collaboration with AWS. This comprehensive presentation dives into our objectives, detailing how we utilized advanced analytics to drive gameplay improvements and player engagement.
Key highlights include:
Primary Goals: Implementing gameplay and technical telemetry to capture detailed player behavior and game performance data, fostering data-driven decision-making.
Tech Stack: Leveraging AWS services such as EKS for hosting, WAF for security, Karpenter for instance optimization, S3 for data storage, and OpenTelemetry Collector for data collection. EventBridge and Lambda were used for data compression, while Glue ETL and Athena facilitated data transformation and preparation.
Data Utilization: Transforming raw data into actionable insights with technologies like Glue ETL (PySpark scripts), Glue Crawler, and Athena, culminating in detailed visualizations with Tableau.
Achievements: Successfully managing 700 million to 1 billion events per month at a cost-effective rate, with significant savings compared to commercial solutions. This approach has enabled simplified scaling and substantial improvements in game design, reducing player churn through targeted adjustments.
Community Engagement: Enhanced ability to engage with player communities by leveraging precise data insights, despite having a small community management team.
This presentation is an invaluable resource for professionals in game development, data analytics, and cloud computing, offering insights into how telemetry and analytics can revolutionize player experience and game performance optimization.
