Social Communities: Don’t end up making them virtual ghost towns.Sanjay Abraham
Social communities could add lot of value if it’s properly built and nurtured within an enterprise. More than a technology or platform, a Social Community is about people. There could be technology worth millions but if people are not engaging, the social communities are bound
to fail.

Finding a Job Project:
Strengths Assessment
My strongest trait that I can bring to any business is my ability to collaborate. I
actively search for touchstones with the people within my working sphere
despite traditional differences that might separate collaborators working
toward a common goal. This will allow me to succeed in what I believe has
become an increasingly team-based business model. I communicate clearly
and as shown through my work as chairwoman of the University of
Colorado’s student government Public Relations department I am selfmotivated,
responsible, and I am a leader who consciously forges strong
relationships with a wide variety of people. I am equally at home speaking at
conferences, classes, seminars or before government legislatures.
Secondly I have a practiced creativity. I am innately a creative person but I
believe that, like a second language, without practicing my creativity I will not
be able to keep current with my contemporaries or expand my own vision. I
routinely produce and show my artwork in galleries in Denver and I am an
active performing artist. As the owner of a small digital design business I
innovate, explore, and use all the tools available to me - in many cases this
includes traditional forms and methods of art. I am well versed in the
sculpture of wood, metals and mixed media as well as traditional handdeveloped
photographic processes. I delight in rendering illustration in a wide
variety of mediums including conte, charcoal, watercolor and pencil.
Finally I am strong in technical skills across a wide range of software
programs. These include print design applications such as Microsoft Office
(Word, Power Point, Excel), Adobe InDesign, Open Office and Adobe
Acrobat, and other graphic applications in the Adobe Suite (Photoshop,
Illustrator). I also know the digital design and movie making applications in the
Adobe Suite CS5; AfterEffects, DVD Studio Pro, iDVD, Bridge, Quicktime,
RealPlayer, DVD Player ,Final Cut Pro, and iMovie. I can edit and create in
sound applications such as Soundtrack Pro and GarageBand and can
program websites using Wordpress, iWeb, FlashCS4 (and ActionScript),
FrontPage, HTML4, and CSS.

Current Civil Service Title at NYCHA
Graphic Artist (2008 – present)
Dear Department of Communications:
I am more than enthusiastic to apply for the position of Digital Communications Manager
(Job ID: 193689) at NYCHA for so many reasons. Not only are my technical skills and job
experience a perfect match for the job description, but also, as someone who is well liked
at NYCHA, someone who has always worked exceptionally well within the client-services
context, I am the ideal candidate for the job. This promotion is something I have worked
toward for several years and I can sincerely say that I deserve it.
Since becoming a Graphic Artist at NYCHA, I have worked closely with the Department
of Communications on a variety of projects, everything from providing digital graphics for
online use and boilerplate designs to producing creatives for marketing campaigns and
strategic initiatives. I have made significant contributions to those efforts, beyond what
would normally be expected of a graphic artist. I have been responsible for applying agency
graphic standards in all I do. In fact I helped to define those standards.
I have management experience prior to coming to NYCHA. I hired, trained and managed
staff at Corbis-Bettmann and took certification courses at the American Management
Association. I also have a diverse background in internet technologies, website
development and content management systems. I have worked on websites for Fortune
500 companies and I continue to maintain several internet and social media platforms.
I am familiar with Microsoft SharePoint and have done the Microsoft Virtual Academy
to keep up with platform developments. This should provide a good background for
TeamShare, which is an older platform that will likely be phased out by DoITT in the
foreseeable future. I am willing to train in any areas that will help me to excel in any job
title, description or department to serve this agency to the best of my abilities.
I bring an unprecedented level of loyalty, enthusiasm, creativity and innovation to
NYCHA that has not gone without notice. I am also a person with a deep humanitarian
commitment that helps me be sensitive to the needs of an agency that provides homes to
half a million low- and middle-income New Yorkers. I intuitively understand the difficulties
faced by our residents, and I believe in this role I can bring vision and voice to engage them
in a positive way. My life is about having a positive impact, helping others and making this
world a better place for those who most need it, and that is why my life has been dedicated
to civil service in the first place. Finally, I will be in a position that will allow me to fulfill this
mission in a context that is most appropriate for who I am in all aspects.
Sincerely,
Keith Piaseczny, Graphic Artist
