1 Sam has 5 stickers. Polly has 9 stickers. If Sam wants 
to collect as many stickers as Polly, how many more 
does he need? 
2 A toy car costs 7p. A toy aeroplane costs 10p more. 
How much does the aeroplane cost? 
3 I think of a number and add 3. The answer is 8. What 
is my number? 
4 A drink costs 5p. I want to buy 3 drinks. How much 
will I need?

7 There were 12 chocolates in a bag. I ate 4 of them.

10 Some rabbits ate 2, 4 and 6 carrots. How many 
carrots did they eat altogether? 
11 A toy box had 6 dinosaurs in it. Half of them were 
green. How many were not green? 
12 Sally had 2 dolls. Nita had 3 dolls. How many more 
dolls would they need if they wanted to take 6 dolls on 
a picnic? 
13 Chelsea spent 7p at the sweet shop. What was her 
change from 10p? 
14 Scott rolled a ball 4 metres. Ben rolled a ball 8 
metres. How much further did Ben’s ball roll? 
15 Pens cost 6p. Amar paid for them exactly with two 
coins. What coins did he use?
16 Toffees cost 4p. How much do 3 toffees cost? 
17 It is 5 o’clock. What time was it two hours ago? 
18 3 bricks balance a toy car. 8 bricks balance a book. If the 
car and the book are on the scales together, how many 
bricks will balance them? 
19 A table seats six children. How many children will 2 tables 
seat? 
20 It is six o’clock. Sue goes to bed at 8 o’clock. How many 
hours until Sue’s bedtime? 
21 A robot needs 4 batteries. How many batteries do you 
need for 3 robots? 
22 A cube has 12 edges. How many edges on 2 cubes? 
23 The children see who can hold the most cubes. Mary can 
hold 4 cubes, Tom can hold 8 cubes and Sarah can hold 7 
cubes. Who can hold one more cube than Sarah? Who can 
hold the least cubes? 
24 Jasmine spent 11p at the shop. She paid exactly using 3 
coins. What coins did she use? 
25 Today is Wednesday. What day will it be in four days 
time? 
26 A farmer has 4 sheep, 8 cows and 3 chickens. How many 
animals does he have altogether? 
27 Mitchell and Susie take their teddies on a picnic. Susie 
has 5 teddies. Mitchell has 3 teddies. At the picnic they 
meet Vicky who has 6 teddies. How many teddies 
altogether? 
28 In the cloakroom there are 8 plimsolls. How many pairs of 
plimsolls is that? 
29 Mrs. Shaw is collecting conkers. She wants to collect 20 
conkers. Jade finds 11 conkers, Tom finds 5 conkers. How 
many more does Mrs. Shaw need to make 20 altogether? 
30 The classroom is 14 metres long. The hall is 5 metres 
longer. How long is the hall?
