 Annis Halvorson comes from a family of
runners. Her daughter competes in cross-
country at the collegiate level, while
Annis Halvorson trains for marathons. An
active runner since the early 1990s, she
has completed eight Boston Marathons
to date.
 Following the horrific events of the 2013
Boston Marathon bombing, the race was
revived in April of 2014 with major support
from participants, families, the city, and
nation. With resounding cheers, spectators
watched runners fill the streets of Boston in
pursuit of crossing the finish line first.
American runner Meb Keflezighi completed
the race in 2:08:37, 11 seconds quicker than
his closest competitor, to win the first place
medal and a cash prize of $150,000. He was
the first American to win the race in more
than three decades.
 The next major race event to take place
in the vicinity is the Boston Athletic
Association’s Half Marathon. The race is
slated for October 12, 2014, near White
Stadium in Franklin Park. For more details
