“Upstairs Thinking in My Brain” is my version of a poetry book. I tell the story
of Lucas and of a group young Twenty something’s focusing on education and
striving for a better life. Poetry in verse appears throughout the book in
sequential pivotal points reflecting how much actually goes on between the lines.
The fictional character ‘Lucas’ has developed a publishing company that allows
independent writers an opportunity to present their work professionally.

Family engagement is an effective strategy to increase student achievement and improve schools. However, many schools struggle with how to engage all families in meaningful ways. The National PTA Standards for Family-School Partnerships provide a framework for structuring and assessing family engagement. This session will explore how to use the National Standards strategies centered around arts education programs and activities to fully engage all families in their children’s education.
Workshop Series for students at the Northeast Center of SUNY Empire State College, Peer Coach Jennifer Woodin, presents her take on learning styles and how understanding your learning styles can make you a better student and more successful in college.
