Thank you all so much for attending our first meeting of the 2012 Relay for Life. I
am blessed to be a part of the BEST group of community participants EVER!
Our next meeting with be held on:
Date: September 12, 2011
Place: Dania Lions Club, 279 SW 5th Street
Time: 5:30 pm
1) On August 15th meeting we confirmed the following chairs:
Team Development Chair – Myrtle Corbin
Team Development Vice Chair – Ronnie Costello
Sponsorship Chair – Proposed - Dominic or Claire Orlando (Tentative)
Survivor / Caregiver Chair – Vicki Payne
Marketing / Publicity Chair – Jimmy Silvernale
Logistics Chair – Timothy Pelott
Activities / Entertainment Committee member – Vice Mayor Bobbie Grace
(We need a Chairperson and additional Committee members. VM Grace already has a
GREAT jumpstart on the Kickoff Event!)
Luminaria Chair – Joanne Brave
2) The theme for 2012 event was discussed.
A theme similar to “Mardi Gras” was suggested (“Mardi Gras” would conflict and confuse the
event with the gaming facility). It was agreed that the theme for the 2012 Relay event would
be “Carnaval” ! Thanks for the save Tim!
3) Relay Kickoff Event Scheduled:
Date: Tuesday, October 4, 2012
Time: 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Place: Frost Park Community Room
300 NE 2nd Street, Dania Beach
4) Relay Meetings to be held on the 2nd Monday of each month at 5:30 pm at
the Lions Club
2. 5) Tentative date for Relay event was discussed. April dates and conflicts were
discussed. Easter Weekend 1st weekend in April, Plywood Regatta 2nd or 3rd weekend in April,
Kiwanis Golf Tournament 3rd weekend in April. The event could be tentatively scheduled for
March 30th and 31st, however after further discussion during the week with ACS
representatives, there is a conflict with date as this is the Hollywood Relay anniversary. ACS
proposes either March 23 & 24th or April 13 & 14th, 2012. Needs to be discussed and confirmed
by group.
