How to Use Algorithms to Scale Digital BusinessTeradata
Gartner defines digital business as the creation of new business designs by blurring the digital and physical worlds. Digital business creates new business opportunities, but the amount of data generated will eclipse the human ability to process it. Further, many complex decisions will need to be made in timeframes, and at scales, that are impossible by human actors. Gartner analyst Chet Geschickter will explain share advice on how to leverage algorithmic business principles to drive digital business success.
Humans are sentient. We perceive. We feel. We listen. The problem is the more you put together, the more we lose these capabilities. We get slower. The idea is, how we create a company that acts like a single organism, where we identify opportunities, and that allows us to work in a faster and exponential world world where development happens in months rather than years. Don't let digital transformation become a war of competitive attrition. You may need to invest in your future to change the game.

Since the launch of Teradata Cares, the participation has been tremendous. As a quick reminder, there are a number of programs available to our associates. Our Volunteer Policy allows associates 1 day per quarter to volunteer in your local community, with manager approval. This is a great opportunity to participate in causes that you are passionate about. With our Dollars for Doers program, i f there is a charity you volunteer over 50 hours a year to, you can apply for a Dollars for Doers grant. As stated before, Teradata supports not only company led events but also individual volunteerism. Community Service Grants provide another opportunity for you to get funds to a local charity. If there is a volunteer opportunity you would like to participate in, and you get 4 or more employees to do the project with you, you can apply for a Community Service Grant to support the project or cause. As we do every year in August, we are now in our Annual Days of Caring. Last year over 800 associates participated in 55 projects in 25 cities. This year, we hope to engage over 1000 and you are all invited to engage in community service in your local community. Even if you are not in an office, you can participate. Our goal is to have Teradata giving back in every city! Lastly, I did want to mention that we do recognize excellence in volunteerism each year with our Celebration of Caring Awards. Each November, we encourage you to submit nominations highlighting the great work done by individuals, teams and offices. You can submit yourself or someone else for their volunteerism and dedication. All of these programs are available to associates of Teradata.
In conclusion, I wanted to thank all of you for the great work you are doing. Please know that the emails, photos and stories of your projects make me so proud to be a part of Teradata and I hope that sharing some of your work today will inspire others to join us! Thank you!
