2. WHAT IS THE CFSEI?
The Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Insti-
tute (CFSEI) is the steel framing industry’s
home for engineers, and those who are in-
terested in improving their knowledge and
skill in cold-formed steel design. The
CFSEI offers unique access to technical
specifications, publications, and informa-
tion about steel framing. Where informa-
tion does not exist, CFSEI Technical Com-
mittees develop guide-
lines, initiate research
and test programs.
CFSEI enables and aids
engineers in the efficient
structural design of safe
and cost effective cold-
formed steel framed
structures.
As an Institute of the
Steel Framing Alliance
(SFA), CFSEI has access
to the full resources of
the steel framing indus-
try. These resources advance understand-
ing of design issues and produce solutions,
new applications and industry best prac-
tices.
The Institute has more than 850 members
in all 50 states and around the globe. Mem-
bers enjoy a complimentary membership
in a local chapter of their choosing for
events, networking and education on re-
gional issues - close to home.

Members of CFSEI receive detailed infor-
mation and access to the full technical re-
sources of the Institute. Members are also

The Technical Note series pro-

including fastener selection
and design, connection/connector design,
shear wall and diaphragm design, truss brac-
ing, installation, and other structural issues.
LATEST RESEARCH
Design Guides provide additional insights
on the behavior of connections and assem-
blies, based on test programs conducted by
major research organizations.
