What is it?
o“A set of integrated organizational HR processes
designed to attract, develop, motivate, and retain
productive, engaged employees.” In simpler terms, it’s
finding the right people for the right jobs to achieve the
strategic goals set forth by leadership.
oAs a strategy, TM is not wholly owned by the HR
department. In fact, it requires HR professionals to work
with managers/supervisors within the company’s ranks
to put the strategy into action.
o That’s a bit different when contrasted with strategies
management or a performance management
there is more reliance on HR than the managers.

oApple is a multinational corporation and one of the most
valuable globally ones due to its unique management
strategies.
oIts talent management approaches have enabled the
company to increase the productivity of the workforce and
innovation leading to high performance.
oApple’s agility in talent is focused on the vision and direction
of its leaders in senior positions to create a culture that helps
in reinforcing the desire to new inventions,

oThe company uses a lean talent management approach, which helps in improving
productivity. Apple focuses on measuring workforce productivity per employee by
measuring revenue per worker or profit per employee.
oThe philosophy of the company is “having less is more, which means that the
leadership focuses on having fewer employees who are more productive and
innovative.
oThe company has also built and reinforced performance culture and every new
employee must commit to the culture of high performance.
oEmployees who are top performers and those that work on critical products are given
special treatment, which motivates them to work harder and improve performance.

oApple does not focus on work-life balance for its employees and always goes for the most
hardworking ones.
o It makes clear to them that being the employee of the company entails commitment and
only those ready to persevere the working conditions are needed.
oIt does not provide any training and development program for its workers but makes them
do it to help them develop skills on their own.
oThis way, the workers become creative and innovative helping the company to compete
well with others in the same industry.
