The red-billed gull lives along New Zealand's coasts, beaches, lakes and inland waters, eating small fish, plankton, insects, crabs, and human food scraps. It faces threats from predators like dogs, cats, rats, hedgehogs, crabs, octopuses, otters and sea turtles. Humans also negatively impact the species through littering, destroying nests, storm water runoff, and driving vehicles on beaches. The gull has grey and white feathers with a bright red bill, legs and feet, weighs around 300g, and is approximately 37cm from head to tail.
Defining Change and Impact Construct PresentationCPEDInitiative
The document discusses upcoming work for fellows in October 2015 focusing on two constructs: 1) Organizational changes to better prepare leaders to construct and apply knowledge to make a positive difference through field-based learning and integrating practical and research knowledge; and 2) Having an impact through addressing questions of equity, ethics and social justice to solve complex problems. It asks for input on questions about change and impact and examples of exemplary programs in terms of change and impact.
This document provides information about agreeing and disagreeing in conversations. It lists phrases that can be used to express agreement like "I agree with you" and "That's exactly how I feel". It also lists phrases for expressing disagreement such as "I don't think so" and "I beg to differ". The document includes examples of interrupting and changing the subject in a conversation. It concludes with a short example dialogue demonstrating agreeing, disagreeing and interrupting.
The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive functioning. Exercise causes chemical changes in the brain that may help protect against mental illness and improve symptoms.

The document summarizes research from a FIPSE grant that studied changes to EdD programs influenced by the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED). Data was collected through 21 case studies and 3 surveys of students, faculty, and researchers. Key findings include:
1. Schools adopted CPED principles and design features to create innovative EdD programs with changed learning processes, environments, and engagement.
2. Students reported learning to apply theory to practice and collaborate, and pursued EdDs for career advancement.
3. Faculty implemented changes but faced challenges from workload shifts and tensions with clinical faculty.
4. Researchers who participated learned about CPED, programs, and the change process, and would likely
The document discusses Labs of Practice (LoPs), which provide practical experience for education doctoral students through internships, on-the-job training, or other hands-on learning opportunities. LoPs allow students to apply their scholarly coursework and integrate their learnings. They can benefit students through job leads and partnerships with community organizations. The presentation provides an example of a student's experience with an LoP and solicits discussion on how education doctoral programs structure similar practical experiences.
- The June 2014 CPED convening will take place at the University of Colorado Denver.
- CPED membership has grown to include 88 schools of education, with new members from various public and private institutions across North America and abroad.
- CPED is working to promote its initiatives on social media and through its recognition program. It is also exploring how to better promote member institutions.
- The document discusses CPED's past initiatives through its FIPSE grant and outlines plans for its next phase of work, including establishing learning communities to implement and study the principles of the CPED framework.
The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive function. Exercise causes chemical changes in the brain that may help protect against mental illness and improve symptoms for those who already suffer from conditions like anxiety and depression.
Mr. Clive Anthony Gerrard has over 40 years of experience as a weapons technician and egress technician for the Royal Air Force and BAE SYSTEMS. He has worked on a wide range of guided and unguided weapon systems for NATO and foreign aircraft. Currently, he is certified to perform maintenance on the Martin Baker ejection seats installed on the Pilatus PC9 and PC21 aircraft used by the Royal Saudi Air Force.
- Addiction problems affect a significant portion of the population, with 10-15% struggling with some form of addiction. Alcohol and drugs are linked to many emergency department visits, diseases, and deaths.
- Genetics play a role in addictive tendencies, with certain families more at risk due to neurological factors. Emotional trauma can also contribute to addiction. Once exposed to mood-altering substances, addiction may develop.
- Treatment involves abstaining from all addictive substances, therapy, and participation in support groups. Maintaining sobriety and involvement requires a lifelong commitment to manage the underlying addictive tendencies. Focusing on identifying and treating addicts is more important than laws around substances alone.
This document outlines the background and findings of the Dissertation in Practice (DiP) Awards Committee from 2013-2014. It discusses the evolution of the CPED principles and the DiP assessment criteria. It then presents the committee's process for assessing DiP submissions, including blind peer review. Key findings are that most submissions used qualitative methods, addressed problems of practice, and followed a traditional 5-chapter format. Submissions that demonstrated action research and immediate impact on practice received the highest scores. The document concludes by discussing ongoing challenges around defining alternative DiP models and ensuring quality and consistency internationally.
