House sitter informs couple of child and when she leaves, parents see child on the stairs
They phone doctor and then the phone cuts off so the couple prepare injection for child but she has run away in
the house
They search for the child for hours but have no luck so they lock themselves in the lounge with all the lights on
Lights flicker and total blackout before child murders both of them
Police are called to the house next day and find child on stairs
Take child to hospital and discover brain problem – they keep child in hospital and 6 weeks later she’s happy and
she’s drawing a picture of a mouse with some cheese
SYPNOSIS
Couple packing for holiday and camera focuses in on mouse that is scurrying towards the cellar. There’s a focus on the
mouse’s eye which reflects the image of the scratch marks on the door handle. House sitter arrives and child appears
whilst staring through the banisters at the top of the stairs, house sitter waves at the child. Couple returns home, house
sitter informs them that the child is in their bedroom. Child watches house sitter leave through a gap in the curtains. Then
child appears at the top of the stairs as the couple are making their way up, the wife backs down slowly and dials on the
phone. You can only hear the voice of the doctor at this point and then a scrambled panic sound – the phone cuts off. Child
starts to run off and call “let’s play hide and seek”, couple make way to kitchen where they prepare an injection and they
take a knife for protection. They search for the child for hours but have no luck in capturing it, they lock themselves in their
lounge for the rest of the night with all the lights on. Lights start to flicker, child’s voice slowly echoes, “You didn’t find me,
but I found you” and then there a complete blackout, and you can only hear the deep breathing of the couple, “where is
she?” and then the child stabs them both multiple times. Next day, police are called by neighbours who reported a
disturbance and they find the child innocently sitting on the stairs by the phone. They take child to hospital to check it over
and find brain problems o they normally treat her like any other patient. 6 weeks later, child looks healthier and normal;
she is drawing in her hospital bed, the picture of a mouse with some cheese on the screen.
CHARACTER SUMMARIES
Anna (child)
The child is about 10-11 years old and has a been experimented on with untested drugs that have caused her to become
aggressive and psychotic then parents have had her locked in the basement for an unspecified length of time that has
made her more animalistic.
Spencer (dad)
Middle aged man who is a delightful husband and neighbour, but him and his wife have a dark secret that they’ve hidden
from everyone they know – an experimental child that is deranged from captivity and many drug tests some years ago.
Katie (mum)
Middle aged woman who is sweet and polite, but is hiding the same secret as her husband. She a strong willed person
which has enabled her to keep the secret for so long and no one suspects her or her husband for the matter because of
their kind and understanding nature.
House Sitter
Young girl who is polite, smiley and happy, yet she is unaware of the child that is being kept in captivity and is oblivious to
the dark secret that the couple are hiding from everyone.
