4. What is Embedded
?
What is Embedded System?
An embedded system is some combination of computer hardware and software,
either fixed in capability or programmable, that is specifically designed for a
particular function.
5. What is IoT ?
The term "the Internet of things" was coined by Kevin Ashton of Procter & Gamble,
later MIT's Auto-ID Center, in 1999

What is possible? When you reach home
Door greets you a warm hello message with the reminders
Coffee maker brews your favorite
One voice command is all enough to get things done
Lock doesn't need keys rather the auto-lock with fingerprints
Fridge alerts to get groceries/warns as, "Hey junky, eat healthy"
Laundry basket says, " It's time to wash"
Watch alerts you as, "Time to eat/drink water, Time to office/gym"
Missed wallet pops as, “Hey, pick me up” when you're just away
Sensor at the garden sounds as, "Hey, Water 'me up, it's dry"
Mobile can track anything and everything from your clothes and shoes...
What More
can Happen?
Any Idea?
8. Do we know What is IoT Now?
IoT is a Platform / Eco System
where ‘any things’ which are called “Smart objects /
nodes / devices”
can now freely “talk / share / Control ” each other
Sense/Exchange enormous volume of data,
spread across disparate communication
networks.
IoT Enables
Devices connect to the Internet,
integrating greater compute capabilities,
using data analytics to extract
Meaningful insights &information.

Do you Know Anil Kumble?
Cricket Bat talks to Cricket fan ? Do you know how?
Your mirror will be able to remark if the dress you
are wearing is right based on the occasion and the
weather.
Your car when reaching the office will tell your slow
computer to start booting so its ready to use by the
time you reach your desk.
And of-course your car will call the service-center
when it needs maintenance.
Artificial implants such as pacemaker, lenses etc.
will notify healthcare providers before the patient
discovers the problem.

22. The Major Problems are …
Delivering Value
Forbes Insights Survey, 29%
of executives feel a major
challenge in building IoT
capabilities is the quality of
IoT technology.
Compatibility and
Interoperability
McKinsey Says, 40% to 60%
of the total values lies on
our ability to achieve
interoperability between
different IoT systems. With
numerous vendors, OEMs,
and service providers, it
becomes really difficult to
maintain interoperability
between different IoT
systems.
Security
54% of IoT device owners do
not use any third party
security tool and 35% out of
these do not even change
the default password on
their devices
Data Collection
Out of 86% of business
stakeholders who claim
that data is integral to
their IoT project, only
8% are able to capture
and analyze IoT data in a
consistent manner
Intelligent Analytics
44% of IoT stakeholders
face difficulty in
capturing data and 30%
confirms that their
analytics capabilities are
not strong and flexible
