Jon Nisby of Starwood Entertainment LLC reflects on things gone by.
When working for Mr Miller at the Jose Theater (by the way which is now the comedy ) in 1974 he
remembers the old horror movies like “Fist of Fury and the “Cannibal Girls that were more like modern
day thrasher movies (blood & Guts) and how a karate chop sequence included a punch with a close-up
resulting in the actors hand filled with blood and guts. Where in a scene in Cannibal Girls the cast
sitting around the dinner table are enjoying a meal that the was an unfortunate hitchhiker that fell in the
girls snare.
Now working in the entertainment business; I started at KPAR ch 2b a public access television station
that was on the Gill Cable system. The rev. Barry Verdi ran the station and was my mentor and
instructor in the field of broadcast television, At the 17 yrs old. I arrived after my stint at the
aforementioned Jose Theater, then ready to learn what I needed to, my sight was on Hollywood and
becoming a big-time producer/director. No one answered the door or heard me knocking but that’s
another chapter.
Today I'd like to take a minute and invite local bay area industry professional to an event happening
June 3rd
in San Jose the “Official Art-pop rave After-Party featuring Lady Starlight who opens for Lady
Gaga at SAP Arena the same night.
This event is unique in that it was branded by the powers to be as a rave after party, I added my own
branding as an entertainment business mixer so I'm expecting a fair amount of Gagas little monsters
(who by the way Backplane out of Palo Alto is the social media platform that the little monsters belong
to) and music types like myself.
