The document discusses the role, rights, and commitments of OIE Reference Centres. It notes that the OIE depends on scientific expertise from Reference Laboratories and Collaborating Centres to develop science-based standards. Reference Centres have rights like using the OIE name and logo, and commitments like maintaining networks, validating diagnostic methods, and organizing proficiency testing. Selection criteria for Reference Centres include scientific expertise and technical capabilities. The process for officially designating or delisting a Reference Centre involves applications, reviews by specialist commissions and councils, and a vote by OIE members.

ALL faced stiff competition from foreign companies in the 1990s during deregulation. They responded by hiring more millennials, who made up 40% of the workforce by 2005. However, this created generational divides with senior employees who saw things differently. ALL took several initiatives to bridge gaps between generations by changing their culture and using cross-functional teams. This case study examines how ALL addressed generational diversity as a competitive advantage during a time of change.
Rosewood Hotels & Resorts manages 12 luxury hotels worldwide with over 1,500 rooms. Each hotel reflects local culture and character. While quality of service is a strength, brand awareness is low as hotels were individually branded rather than under the Rosewood corporate brand. This led to low customer recognition of Rosewood and cross-selling between properties. Adopting a corporate branding strategy could boost awareness and loyalty by clearly associating hotels with the Rosewood brand, but some hotel managers prefer individual branding of their properties.
The document discusses different types of gears including spur, helical, bevel, and worm gears. It describes gear terminology like pitch circle, diametral pitch, and pressure angle. Factors that influence gear design strength like dynamic load, stress concentration, and reliability are also covered. The AGMA (American Gear Manufacturers Association) standard method for calculating gear bending strength is presented which considers factors like transmitted load, speed, and material properties.
Molly Percy created a self-portrait triptych for her college that was influenced by several artists. She was initially inspired by Michael Craig Martin's computer-generated color portraits. Her triptych experiments with color combinations and incorporates influences from Francis Bacon's triptych format and David Choe's bright colors. Her final self-portrait captures different emotions through contrasting colors and compositions that she feels represent her personality. Through this project, Molly learned about combining colors and the benefits of working with canvas.
This document summarizes a presentation given by Ashok Leyland about their company and school bus products. Ashok Leyland is part of the Hinduja Group, an international investment and banking group. The presentation covered Ashok Leyland's operations in India and other countries, their product ranges including rigid trucks, buses, and special application vehicles. A significant portion of the presentation focused on Ashok Leyland's school bus features like seating capacity, safety features, and entertainment systems. It also discussed Ashok Leyland's presence in Ghana and the support provided by their local partner.

1) Customer relationship management (CRM) is a strategy that places customers at the center of a business to foster mutually beneficial relationships. It requires understanding key CRM concepts and best practices.
2) Calculating a customer's lifetime value allows businesses to segment customers, focus on the most profitable, and tailor offerings. However, each customer desires unique relationship styles so one approach does not fit all.
3) Businesses can increase customer lifetime value by reducing defection rates through personalized service, strengthening relationships, and cross-selling/up-selling additional products. The goal is satisfying customers so they remain loyal and generate future profits.

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts is considering implementing a corporate branding strategy to increase customer profitability and lifetime value. Currently, the brand is not well known. A SWOT analysis identified strengths like global presence but also weaknesses like low brand recognition. Opportunities include growth and new acquisitions. Threats include increased competition from other luxury hotel brands. The goal is to build brand equity, increase loyalty, and boost cross-property usage. Tactics may include co-branding hotels and offering discounts for visits to other Rosewood properties. Tracking key metrics like cross-property usage will allow the company to control the strategy's effectiveness.

Cross-border genetic testing is widespread, particularly for rare diseases, with over 18,000 samples crossing borders in 2002. Samples are sent abroad for tests not available locally, centralization of testing, or lower costs. However, this creates issues around quality assurance, finding high-quality labs, reimbursement policies, and data protection. Initiatives like the Genetics Quality Assurance database aim to help address these issues by providing information on lab accreditation and participation in proficiency testing.
The document discusses a presentation on the Joint Clinical Assessment (JCA) process under the European HTA Regulation and how it may impact patient experience and involvement in HTA.
It begins with an introduction to the JCA process and an overview of a presentation by Sophie Werkö from the Swedish Agency for Health Technology Assessment on their experiences with JCA. It then discusses challenges and opportunities for patient involvement in JCA, including timely involvement, defining PICOs, and ensuring input from both European and national level patient groups.
Finally, it provides an overview of EUCAPA and HTA4Patients, two projects aimed at training and building capacity for patient representatives to participate in European HTA processes like JCA
This document discusses quality management in medical laboratories. It outlines the development of ISO 15189, an international standard for quality management in medical labs. ISO 15189 provides requirements for lab management, personnel, equipment, quality control, audits and continuous improvement. It emphasizes a holistic approach and aims to ensure labs are competent and provide quality patient care. The standard is gaining widespread international use and all medical lab professionals will need to understand and apply its requirements.
This document summarizes a conference on EHR certification held on November 29, 2012 in Łódź, Poland. It discusses the need for mandatory EHR system certification to ensure quality and trustworthiness. It outlines five areas that EHR certification should cover: data exchange, functionality, administrative/billing facilities, use measurements, and software development quality. Barriers to certification include a lack of resources and market fragmentation. The document recommends establishing a legal framework, involving stakeholders, and strengthening initiatives like EuroRec to define interoperable certification requirements.
Governance in DRIVE - Laurence Torcel-Paignon Sanofi PasteurDRIVE research
The document describes the governance structure of the DRIVE project, which aims to generate brand-specific influenza vaccine effectiveness estimates in Europe. It establishes separate bodies for independent scientific oversight (Independent Scientific Committee), quality control and auditing (Quality Control and Audit Committee), and joint decision-making between public and private partners (Steering Committee). Work Package 7, conducted by public health institutes, is responsible for developing and implementing studies to determine vaccine effectiveness, while ensuring independence from vaccine manufacturers. The governance structure is evaluated yearly and adapted as needed based on insights and stakeholder feedback.
