10 more must read books which transformed into movies in last 4 yearsSathish M Naidu
Thanks a lot for your overwhelming support for my previous post – 10 Must-Read Books Which Transformed into Movies In Last 4 Years, where I had given a list of 10 best books available on the e-commerce website Amazon, which later went on to become Hollywood blockbusters. Just like the previous list, some of the movies in this list also were nominated for Oscars.
1. The Story: Which men couldn’t
possibly be into these lovely ladies?
Apparently, the men in this movie
do. Based on the best-selling self-
help book by former Sex and the
City story editor Greg Behrendt,
the story centers on the romantic
woes of an interconnected group
of Baltimoreans, both single and
married. Expect a relationship
drama with intermittent comedic
elements.
The Story: Gunning for the crowd of The Devil
Wears Prada, Confessions is set to light the
screen with style and charm, courtesy of leading
lady Isla Fisher. In the story, based on Sophie
Kinsella’s popular chick-lit book, Fisher plays a
consummate shopper who works as an advice
columnist for a financial magazine, then things
got ironically awry when she can’t pay off her
credit card bills.
In case you haven’t noticed, more women are filling up the seats
of cinemas everywhere. Thanks to the love-hungry—and
promiscuous—gals of Sex and the City Movie (which grossed
an astonishing $150million in the U.S. alone) expect more
ladies with intricate love lives to appear on the big screen.
He’s Just Not That into You
Star: Drew Barrymore,
Jennifer Aniston,
Jennifer Connelly, Scarlet
Johansson, Ben Affleck,
Bradley Cooper &
Ginnifer Goodwin.
Director: Ken Kwapis
Confession
of a Shopaholic
Star: Isla Fisher, Hugh Dancy
Director: P.J. Hogan
The Story: Bullock just
can’t get away from
an office romance.
Now she’s in full
cougar-mode playing
a publishing executive
who forces her assistant
to marry her so she
can avoid deportation
back to Canada. Set
as a summer 2009
romantic-comedy
tentpole, it’ll be great
to see Bullock (who’ll
be turning 45 this
year) doing what she
does best yet again:
physical-comedy with
a great dose of her
inexhaustible girl-
next-door charm.
the proposal
Star: Sandra Bullock,
Ryan Reynolds.
Director: Anne Fletcher
Two corporate spies, who also happen to be
lovers, concoct a devious scheme to dupe their
own employers, but they too have their own
plans which make them unable to trust each
other. Duplicity may seem like a corporate
thriller full of intrigues, but it also seems like
another romantic vehicle for box office queen
Roberts disguised in another genre, with the
trailer making the love tryst between her and
Owen more prominent.
Duplicity
Star: Julia Roberts,
Clive Owen
Director: Tony Gilroy
the chosen classic
The Story: A loving homage to the Pillow Talk-inspired, double-entendre-laden movies of Rock Hudson
and Doris Day, Down with Love is an endearingly, subversive alternative to your standard romantic
comedies. It’s a shame it wasn’t well-received by audience (it flopped against The Matrix sequel back in
2003), nevertheless it was critically-praised thanks to classy performances, witty plot, and eye-candy retro
cinematography.
down with loveolic
Star: Renee Zellweger, Ewan McGregor; Director: Reyton Reed
