When Their Service Ends, Ours Begins...
OUR MISSION
War causes wounds and suffering that last beyond the battlefield. Swords to Plowshares’ mission is to heal the wounds, to restore dignity, hope, and self-sufficiency to all veterans in need, and to prevent and end homelessness and poverty among veterans.
Founded in 1974, Swords to Plowshares is a community-based not-for-profit organization that provides counseling and case management, employment and training, housing, and legal assistance to veterans in the San Francisco Bay Area.
We promote and protect the rights of veterans through advocacy, public education and partnerships with local, state and national entities.
OUR VISION
All veterans will have access to the care and services they need to rebuild their lives.
OUR MODEL
Our model of care is based on the philosophy that the obstacles veterans face— including homelessness, unemployment and disability—are interrelated and require an integrated network of support within the community and continuum of care.

The digital age provides all organisations with opportunities to grow and innovate. But it also brings a new world of risk, especially to our most precious information. The information that’s critical to our future success. All organisations are at risk and cyber resilience is no longer a ‘nice to have’. But many organizations continue to struggle to define what good cyber resilience looks like.
Good starts with a strategy. A strategy built around your business objectives and knowing what the cyber risks are to those objectives. It’s about having the right people, skills, awareness and culture to deliver the strategy. It’s also about understanding that you will never be bullet-proof – to support your prevention and detection activities it’s now as important to know how you will effectively respond and recover to a cyber-attack.
In June 2015 AXELOS Global Best Practice are launching a new Cyber Resilience Best Practice portfolio. This webinar with Nick Wilding, Head of Cyber Resilience at AXELOS, outlines:
- what cyber resilience is and why it is so important to any organisation;
- why all of us are on the cyber front line and how we all have a role to play;
- why cyber resilience best practice is so vital to help define and manage what good looks like in your organisation;
- how you can get involved in the development and launch of this exciting new initiative from AXELOS.

UX, Marketing & Brand: Designing customer experiences where digital marketing...Lynn Teo
This is the era of great customer experiences. All around us we see thriving examples of businesses that have disrupted their legacy predecessors by observant and intuitive innovators. The marketing and product development functions have long resided in separate parts of an organization. What is often missing in this bifurcated setup is a holistic approach to engaging and satisfying the consumer on their terms most, if not all of the time. For too long, digital marketing has been thought of in terms of “push” and “pull” tactics without sufficient consideration of the connectivity and continuity between the efforts.
For example, “push” brand messaging is thought of as reach and segmentation. But what about “push” marketing strategies that are more relevant and far reaching, such as social media integrations that are “baked” into the product from the outset? Think about Groupon and the rewards you earn from friend purchases as an example.
On the “pull” side of things, it is easy to forget about the product itself as a “pull” marketing vehicle. Digital storefronts (ecommerce sites, mobile commerce) and social platforms are hidden marketing workhorses when overlain with the personalization capabilities afforded by data. Carefully designed user experiences that are built on a deep understanding of user needs and pain points, easy-to-use ecommerce sites and mobile apps that convert with every “Add To Cart” tap or click accelerated by contextual information, content narratives on Facebook that entice and engage – these are all product experiences waiting to exert their natural pull on the customer.
The goal is to create compelling interactions at every point in the customer’s journey in a deliberate and customer-focused way. Organizations must be ready to embrace new team structures, create a culture of systems-thinking, and most importantly, challenge the status quo in order to stay relevant in today’s fast-moving customer-led world.

ISACA UAE - Importance of Human-Centric Approaches to Cyber SecurityDr. Lydia Kostopoulos
ISACA UAE Conference - ISAFE 2015
(Conference Presentation - October 28, 2015 - Dubai)
Presentation Abstract:
Traditional cyber security defenses center around technology, with controls around networks, servers, devices, software as well as data. This approach helps mitigate technological threats but not human threats. Social engineering attacks have increased over the past years with vishing and phishing attacks becoming more frequent. However, end-user awareness on social engineering mitigation has not followed that same upward trend. This session explores human-centric cyber security defenses that support a more robust defense in depth approach, emphasizing the importance of end-user awareness, operational security strategies and identification of internal human based vulnerabilities.

From Welfare to Self-care: Redefining Public HealthStephanie Coleman
Environmental and experiential transformation of space and client engagement is essential. Increase engagement, retention and profit through seamless integration of process, innovative interaction and technology.
Driving Meaningful Engagement in Public Health. A resource for changing the narrative and overcoming the negative economic impact driven by inadequate health resources for historically marginalized communities.
The ”Tré S.T.R.É.A.M.” (Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Art, Media) campaign is a community-focused initiative working to close the socio-eonomic gap in the technology and engineering sectors especially as it
relates to Afro-Latinos and African-Americans students. Serving historically
underserved communities and with support from public and private partners, Tré S.T.R.É.A.M. works to educate, inspire, and equip middle- and high- school students with the skills and resources to pursue opportunities in the science, technology, and engineering fields.

Partner services will:
- Protect your privacy, identity and
personal information
- Be there to answer questions and
offer options
- Offer referrals to medical and other
available services
Why tell your partner?
Telling a partner may not be easy, but it is
important to do so. If left untreated, some
STDs can cause serious permanent
damage. Many STDs do not have
symptoms and the only way to know if
your partner is infected is to get tested.
Informing partners gives them the
opportunity to get immediate screening
and treatment.
