A volcanic eruption is a sudden and violent natural disaster that can cause great damage. When a volcano erupts, it explodes and throws out hot lava that can destroy crops and cover large areas of surrounding ground. This damage to crops could lead to starvation for people living near the volcano if the eruption is large.
