Context: Previously a 17th C. hunting
reserve, this 440 ha park is rich with nature,
history, culture, and activity.
Problem: The Favorita
is currently in a state of
abandon and decay. The
previous administration has
left the city in a serious
financial crisis.
Strategy: La Favorita as a flagship initiative of the
new administration. Smartness concepts: participation,

Solution: Favorita Living Lab,
with an extended community
partnership to co-design technologies
for: ecosystem monitoring,
participatory mapping, multimedia
narratives, urban gardening, sport

Reflection:
Why don’t we coordinate a calendar of Smart City Fests?
• 2-3 day hands-on event in city-specific places
• Workshop sessions to discuss issues
• Participatory sessions to generate ideas
• Schools programme to raise awareness
• App contests for digital innovation community
•…
