3. Surrounded by the verdant patchwork of rice fields, Four Seasons
Chiang Mai has a unique distinction as a working farm. In Thailand
rice is viewed as the essence of life and for centuries has anchored
the culture, landscape, and character of the Thai people in its cycles
of planting and cultivation.
4. The Community celebrates these cycles of life with ritual offerings and festivals that
demonstrate their deep respect and gratitude to the goddesses—Mae Posop, rice
and fertility; Mae Kongka, water; Mae Thoranee, land; and Mae Nang Kwak, pros-
perity. Farmers believe this tribute will bring them wealth and an abundant harvest.
6. Our design of the Pavilion Rooms evokes a strong tie to the
land and the goddesses that watch over those who tend it.
Design elements suggest the long harmonious relationship of
water, grain, and goddesses. Our use of materials, textures,
patterns, color, and imagery brings this story to life.
