This document provides a summary of the key points from the Septuagesima sermon on grace alone. It discusses how God provided water from the rock for the Israelites in the wilderness, showing his covenant mercy and compassion. It notes how Paul warns that Israelites drank from the spiritual rock that was Christ, but many still lacked faith. The sermon emphasizes that good works cannot save and we are saved by grace alone through faith in Christ.

Jesus Christ never comes so near us as in
the darkness. Have faith in Him; be sure
that He is working for the best, sure that the
more we suffer the closer we are to the great
suffering heart of God. The time will come
\rhen we shall see, as now in faith we trust,
that every pain we have borne was working
out the redemption of the race ; when we shall
smile at the remembrance of all our trouble,
as we now smile at the griefs which seemed so
big to us in childhood.

As we consider the need for accompaniment when dying or gravely ill, a booklet like this gives helpful reading and prayers for family and caregivers as well as the person who wants to pray.
In this edition, we included quotes from the Saints especially St. Josemaria to help a sick or dying person prepare well for their encounter with Our Lord.
Relevant Radio generously designed their advertisement for the app which can be used and played simultaneously with these prayers and it offers other wonderful devotions in their “pray” section.

Grace Alone
The people of Israel contended with the Lord in the wilderness (Ex. 17:1–7). They were
dissatisfied with His provision. In the same way, the first laborers in the vineyard
complained against the landowner for the wage he provided them (Matt. 20:1–16). They
charged him with being unfair, but in reality he was being generous. For the Lord does not
wish to deal with us on the basis of what we deserve but on the basis of His abounding
grace in Christ. The first—those who rely on their own merits—will be last. ―For they
were overthrown in the wilderness‖ (1 Cor. 10:5). But the last, those who rely on Christ,
will be first. For Christ is the Rock (1 Cor. 9:24–10:5). He is the One who was struck and
from whose side blood and water flowed that we may be cleansed of our sin.
