The health effect of radiation
Introduction

How radiation occur, and effects people's
                 health?
Kinds of radiation
● Radiation have two kinds, and all radiation are
    not harmful.

● One of the radiation is non-ionizing radiation is
such as infrared radiation, radio waves,
cellphone radiation and microwave, also non-
    ionizing radiation doesn't break chemical
    bonds.

● Ionizing radiation is dangerous because
    ionizing radiation break chemical bonds.
Effects of ionizing radiation
● The effect of ionizing radiation is different by
length of time that is exposure.

● The initial symptoms are nausea, fatigue,
    vamiting, hair loss and diarrhea.

● Heavier exposures are te intestinal lining,
    worse diarrhea, dehydration and central
    nervous system damage.

● Then, people loss consciousness and die.
Radiation that released from nuclear
    plants and a nuclear bomb

● Radiation ash that includes cesium-137,
iodine-131, and radioactive strontium adhere to
    skin and clothing.

● Also, they accumulate in food, milk and water.
Cesium-137 and iodine-131

● Iodine-131 is absorbed in the thyroid gland.

● It is bad for children because it damage rapidly
    cells that divide.

● Cesium-137 is absorbed into soft tissues.

● Cesium-137 contaminate food, water and milk,
then it is absorbed in the body.
The mearsuring that is the biological
    risk of exposure to radiation
● The biological risk of exposure to radiation can be
    measured in sieverts.
● An exposure of 500000 microsieverts causes nausea
    and fatigue.
● An exposure of 750000 microsieverts causes hair
    loss.
● An exposure of 1000000 microsieverts causes
    hemorrhage.
● An exposure of 4000000 microsieverts causes death.
Conclusion

Radiation looks very harmful for people. But if
there is not radiation, we don't have medical
technology. Radiation have good effect and bad
effect.
