Philosophy Statement: The use of language is an integral part of every person’s life, especially in the
Information Age in which we now live. The ability to not only express oneself, but to also understand the
expressions of others is critical to furthering the Gospel of Christ. Just as Christ both listened and preached,
so should these students. Honing their abilities in both composition and literature will help to achieve our
overall goal of creating articulate, perceptive, and well-rounded Christian students.
Course Objective: The students will critically examine the ideas of others expressed in literature, and will
grow to appreciate them as expressions of self. In turn, they will also learn to clearly express the ideas and
desires that the Lord has placed in their hearts.
