Returning To A Clear Head And
An Open Heart
If you don’t’ meditate, start.
Even if it’s only two minutes a day – that means
just sit quietly and enjoy the fact you’re breathing,
safe for the moment, and alive.
If you do meditate, contemplate, or pray –
Do it just a bit longer every day
Explore being as positive as you can be –
ESPECIALLY when you feel negative, inner
dialogue is negative, or you can’t see anything but
a negative future.
Embrace your fear and negativity.
Give it a big hug. We humans need a lot of
holding when we’re scared. It helps to calm our
sympathetic nervous system and remind us we are
a part of nature too.
Take a walk, run, or go to the gym.
Stay focused on your body, not the ramblings of
your mind. Movement can be a great disperser of
stress. And gives you something to do besides
getting yourself all revved up again.
Remember - your viewpoint is just your
viewpoint and not the total truth, even though it
doesn’t feel that way. The thing to remember is
that no singular viewpoint can reflect
the total truth.
Have a coffee or tea with a friend.
Agree to only talk about the great things that are
happening in your lives instead of politics.
No ‘oh, ain’t it awful’ allowed.
Get up 5 minutes earlier every day.
Watch the sun rise without the TV, phone,
newspaper, or internet getting even the
slightest bit of your attention.
Imagine you only have a piece of
the truth and not the whole picture
Challenge the truthfulness
of your own point of view.
Remember we all carry a little piece of the puzzle
but pretty much miss catching a glimpse of the
whole picture.
Fill your day with gratitude for being alive.
Whichever side of the fence you’re on politically,
wherever you think the country is going in the
future, move to the middle for just a moment.
Pause, take a breath, and enjoy your life in this
moment TODAY.
