o In 2014 SBCS introduced a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education.
Offered to our lecturers in collaboration with the University of Greenwich,
this programme is designed to enhance the competence of our faculty in
pedagogy (education theory) and andragogy (adult education)
o In 2016, SBCS introduced Peer Observation of Learning and Teaching as an
added measure of quality assurance, to ensure that the level of teaching
stays appropriate to the level of the qualification taught.
Our lecturers employ an approach to teaching that blends academic theory with
practice, aimed at producing professionals who are strategic thinkers.
More to that, learners are supported by efficient and thoughtful administrators and
auxiliary staff at all our campuses. Regardless of which campus you study at, the quality
standard of service excellence remains the same.

27. The Matriculation Pathway
Education is evolving, and the way we as educators teach our learners must evolve as
well. Rabindranath Tagore once said, "Don't limit a child to your own learning, for he
was born in another time."
We are in a time now where students, parents and employers want more out of an
academic qualification; employers want graduates with experience, while graduates
desire work- based exposure as part of their studies. Parents, as always want to secure
their children's future and our children, ultimately, study for a degree.
What is required is an education that balances theoretical teaching with vocational
training - this is our Matriculation pathway.
Pearson approved and ACTT recognised, our SBCS Matriculation programmes combine
academic education with employability skills training and work-based simulations. They
also provide your CXC or CSEC graduate direct entry into our BTEC Higher National
Diplomas. These HNDs develop a range of practical knowledge and skills which help
learners to prepare for – and progress in – their chosen career. From the HNDs, learners
progress to the final year of a UK honours degree, from globally renowned universities.
And it all starts with our Matriculation Diplomas.
Business. Computing. Media. Graphic Design. Engineering.
Many choices, one goal - an employable graduate with a useful and useable education.
Acquire an education that is relevant to your profession. Embark on your journey, from
CSEC to your degree. Step into the next level of learning through our Matriculation
pathway.
Thank you, and see you soon.
