Team FREDNET aims to win the Google Lunar X Prize by landing a spacecraft on the moon that carries a payload, broadcasts HD video, and roams at least 500 meters. The team plans to launch a small lunar lander aboard a Falcon 1e rocket from Kwajalein Atoll. The lander would follow a direct descent trajectory to the lunar surface, where it would operate for up to two days. Team FREDNET is an open source effort involving students, professionals, and universities from around the world collaborating online to develop the design.
