This document provides information about an introduction to Logic multitrack recording for a Music Technology class. It includes objectives to learn about multitrack recordings and basic recording techniques in Logic. Students are instructed to complete a task in pairs creating a multitrack recording in Logic with at least 3 tracks, recording to a metronome using their voice or instruments, and exporting the recording as a wav file. Homework involves choosing a piece within 3 minutes and 8 tracks to record for a multitrack recording portfolio requirement.

recording in Logic (using internal mic).
•How to open a new file, add audio tracks.
•How to use the R, M and S buttons for a track.
•How to monitor with headphones.
•How to loop a 4 bar phrase.
•How to bounce finished file.

5. TYPES OF
RECORDING
CLASSICAL
This aims to replicate as closely as possible a live acoustic performance. This
is often used for classical / folk recordings.
POP
This uses multitrack recording in which parts are recorded seperately. Effects
are used creatively. This is often used for pop music recordings.

In pairs, create a multitrack recording with Logic
You must have at least 3 tracks
Record to the metronome
Use your voice / instruments
Export your Multitrack recording as a Wav

REQUIREMENTS
Must last between 2 and 4 minutes
Minimum of 8 tracks
Minimum of 4 tracks captured using microphones

8. HOMEWORK
Decide on a suitable piece to record.
Don’t be too ambitious! Don’t go over your 8 tracks.
Make sure it is around 3 minutes long.
Make sure you can get suitable musicians (don’t
choose something with a sitar solo)
