If I believe that everything that sees my eyes was created out of love for me, then I want to know how deep this love is. I want to know it for this life perhaps even the life which is still waiting for me.

Pastor Brent reminds us of the simple Gospel message and its power to set us free, if only we would take it at face value. Too often we have allowed never-quite-good-enough, performance-based religion to turn God's good news into a man-made prison! Pastor Brent invites us back to the place where we trust the completeness of God's salvation work in us, and can confidently state that we're fully accepted and loved as God’s favored child! In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

2. 1:5-7
• who by God's power are protected through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in
the last time. This brings you great joy, although you may have to suffer for a short
time in various trials. Such trials show the proven character of your faith, which is
much more valuable than gold - gold that is tested by fire, even though it is passing
away - and will bring praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
• My faith is going to protect me and get me through the things that are heading my
way throughout my life. Although I may have suffering, after all, if I do not have
suffering to gain victory, then it is a lie that Satan commonly uses. However, despite
any trial or suffering that I could possibly go through, God will get me through it and
for every trial I get through I can be joyful in getting through it. This is so precious
that even Satan cannot give me something more valuable.
3. 1:22-23
• You have purified your souls by obeying the truth in order to
show sincere mutual love. So love one another earnestly from a
pure heart. You have been born anew, not from perishable but
from imperishable seed, through the living and enduring word of
God.
• I do feel a love of people in my life now. I really feel each day
that the old me is dying more and more and what comes out
more then anything is love. This is really like a new birth for
me.
4. 2:1-3
• So get rid of all evil and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all
slander. And yearn like newborn infants for pure, spiritual milk,
so that by it you may grow up to salvation, if you have
experienced the Lord's kindness.
Lord help me to get rid of all evil and deceit in my life. I do not
want these things to get in my way of serving you. Instead I
want the milk that you are offering me and I want to desire
nothing but you in my life.
5. 2:21-25
For to this you were called, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving an example for you to
follow in his steps. He committed no sin nor was deceit found in his mouth. When he was
maligned, he did not answer back; when he suffered, he threatened no retaliation, but committed
himself to God who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we may
cease from sinning and live for righteousness. By his wounds you were healed. For you were
going astray like sheep but now you have turned back to the shepherd and guardian of your
souls.
• When I am confronted by people for the things that I have wronged, I believe I can learn a
lesson from this passage. Though Christ was innocent, I am not. How can I possibly answer
back? How can I possibly defend myself? I can I possibly retaliate? I really have no excuse.
The only defense I can give is that I have repented of my old life. Even though Christ has
forgiven and is not going to hold my sin against me, that does not mean that for the people I
have wronged I do not need to do this. It is the least I can do for Christ bearing my sin and
taking it to the Cross. Through this, I have been striving forward in Christ.
6. 3:7
• Husbands, in the same way, treat your wives with consideration
as the weaker partners and show them honor as fellow heirs of
the grace of life. In this way nothing will hinder your prayers.
• I really feel as if until now I have really failed in doing this.
That I have not I have not been very considerate and that I
have not shown honor to Mary. I really pray that if God keeps
us together that God can help me learn how to be the kind of
husband who loves her and then shows honor and is
considerate to her and her needs. If nothing else teach me
this God.
7. 3:8-12
• Finally, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, affectionate, compassionate, and
humble. Do not return evil for evil or insult for insult, but instead bless others because
you were called to inherit a blessing. For the one who wants to love life and see good
days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from uttering deceit. And he must turn
away from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it For the eyes of the
Lord are upon the righteous and his ears are open to their prayer. But the Lord's face
is against those who do evil.
In my life I have always had this hidden desire to want revenge when I have felt
wrong. This is not the new life that I have repented of now. Above all, I believe the
biggest struggle in my life has been with what I say. This is something that I am
going to allow God to work with me on a daily basis. I believe that everyday I will
need to repent of evil and keep doing what is good. I want to be one of the
righteous that God looks at and hears my prayers.
8. 4:1-2
• So, since Christ suffered in the flesh, you also arm yourselves
with the same attitude, because the one who has suffered in the
flesh has finished with sin, in that he spends the rest of his time
on earth concerned about the will of God and not human
desires.
• I really have felt a lot of suffering in my life I gather. Even now
I feel suffering with my current situation. The more I suffer
though the more I feel closer to God. The more I cling to Him.
9. 4:7-8
• For the culmination of all things is near. So be self-controlled
and sober-minded for the sake of prayer. Above all keep your
love for one another fervent, because love covers a multitude of
sins.
• Lord help continue to help me in this way. I really feel that the
last few days I have gained a huge hunger for you and want
my mind to be focuse on you in prayer in all I do. Ultimately
help me to love as your love covered all my sins.
10. 5:5-6
• In the same way, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. And all of you, clothe
yourselves with humility toward one another, because God opposes the proud but
gives grace to the humble. (6) And God will exalt you in due time, if you humble
yourselves under his mighty hand
• I seek to be humble in my life and to have people from a distance to sense the
amount of humility that I ooze out in my life. I do not want to be prideful, as I want
to be with God. I want to be exalted and to continue seeking Him in all I do.
