1 April 2014- TRICARE Service Center Walk-In Service Ending
Walk-in service is ending at TRICARE Service Centers in the U.S. by April 1, 2014.
TRICARE Service Centers are customer service outlets that are operated by our regional contractors.
They are usually located in military hospitals and clinics.
Because our overseas areas are unique, walk-in service at TRICARE Service Centers in all overseas areas will continue.
To get your questions answered in the U.S., you'll no longer walk-in during limited hours. Instead:

This change does not affect any TRICARE benefits or health care services.
Why the Change?
Since the first TRICARE Service Center opened in the mid 1990’s, we’ve seen a shift in how you get information. With today’s technology,
anything you can do at a TRICARE Service Center can be done online or over the phone.
Our goal is to improve the services that you prefer to use. This change in walk-in service will save an estimated $250 million over the next
five years, letting us invest in the services you want instead of those you don't use.
To visit a TRICARE Service Center in the U.S. through March 31, 2014, select your region to find one near you:

An old mail article I like to put out each winter!
Prepare your car with an onion? Say what? Snowy
weather will be coming our way! Here are a few ways
you can prepare your car (and yourself) for snow, ice
and cold: -Car stuck in the snow? First, try to rock
your car back and forth. If this doesn’t work, you need
to look for traction for the back wheels. Car mats will
do, or branches, dirt and sand from outside. If you
have tried everything else, let some air out of both the
back tires to provide better traction. Drive out slowly,
and then stay slow until you reach the first gas station
that has an air pump. If you are planning to drive in
the snow, keep a rubber bathmat cut in half in your
trunk, or roof shingles – either of these can help you to
get your car out of the snow. -Lock Iced Over? If your
locks are frozen, heat your key with a lighter before
putting it in the lock. If you have a small straw, blow
hot air into the lock. WD-40, alcohol and antifreeze
will help to remove ice from your lock as well. -If the
weather calls for snow, put cardboard over your
windshield to keep it clean of snow and ice. Rubber
mats or car mats work as well. If you have ice on your
windshield, put salt or rubbing alcohol on it to melt the
ice. To prevent ice from sticking on to your windshield,
wipe a cut onion on the glass – it works wonders!
