CTQI Container Terminal Quality Indicator
The concept of the CTQI Container Terminal Quality Indicator standard CTQI – 2nd Hamburg Commitee Meeting
Background … Industry players like - shippers - carriers - terminal operators - port authorities are seeking for a reliable standard for measuring Container Terminal Efficiency and Performance
Proposed Structure of the CTQI standard Basic quality management system + Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) + Evaluation of by Master Tables + Benchmarking
Development carried out by GL and Industry partners … GL provides know-how on the development of standards the application of quality management systems Container shipping Industry Partners provide know-how on Industry specific best practices and standards

The Three Components of the CTQI Standard Conformance Requirements basic management system requirements Key Performance Indicator (KPIs) see presentation of Gustaaf De Monie Container Terminal Quality INDICATORS Evaluation of KPIs Terminal Infrastructure and Organization External Factors and Hinterland Connectivity
Conformance Check / Requirements (1) Policy Implementation of Mandatory Practices e.g. communication procedure with ships and inland transport modes Performance of relevant Training identify relevant personnel identify applicable training needs for each relevant personnel
Conformance Check / Requirements (2) Appointment of CTQI Manager Determine further responsibilities and authorities Subcontractors and Suppliers definition of requirements and it’s communication to subcontractors and suppliers supervision of performance and evaluation of subcontractors and suppliers
Conformance Check / Requirements (3) Claims, Nonconformities, Failures and Customer Complaints shall be recorded and analyzed identification and implementation of corrective action and preventive action Document Control / Records CTQI management manual Revision control / obsolete documents / Record keeping
Conformance Check / Requirements (4) Internal Audits at least annually , recorded input to management review Management Review at least annually , after internal audit , prior external audit External Audits annually by Germanischer Lloyd Certification related always to a calendar year performance (1st January to 31 December) audit / certification possible throughout the following calendar year
