6. Wellness Promotion Project Proposal This Battle for Fitness proposal centers on a population health management (PHM) strategy through a societal perspective. With PHM, the influencing entity has an interest in helping the target population of individuals make appropriate choices and decisions about their health and medical care to reduce unnecessary medical expenses and keep healthy (McAlearney, 2003). PHM strategies provide the means by which influencing entities attempt to change the behavior of their targets. Focus groups with teachers, parents, and students are used to understand perceptions related to nutrition, physical activity, and the role of the school in obesity prevention.
