7. The boys varsity golf team participated in the Taft Red
Raiders Shootout this past Monday.
Out of 16 teams the boys came in 4th with a team total of
357.
Leading the way and shooting a 80 was Billy Houston which
put him tied for 5th out of 154 participants.
Calvin Bass netted a 87, Richard Rubio 93, Joseph Jones 97
and Ralph Gomez 101.
The weather conditions were wet but the boys held it
together and played quite well.

8. This past weekend, Friday and Saturday, 24 and 25
February, Charles Griffin, Senior at Clemens
participated in the 2012 UIL State Swim Meet.
Charles swam the 100 Backstroke.
He swam a personal best on Friday, with a time of :54.13. in the
Championship heat in Saturday's finals.
He swam another personal best with a time of :54.10 earning
him 8th place at this year's State Swim meet.

10. Pennies for Patients
• We are still collecting Pennies for research into
blood cancers
• Lets see if we can get everyone to bring a
penny for the collection boxes
• Boxes are in classrooms or in the main office
• Top collecting class wins a pizza party

11. JROTC Drill Team wins third place
Congratulations to the Clemens Blue Brigade drill team, winning third
place, out of 42 teams, in the Inspection category, at the junior varsity
phase of the Stevens H.S. drill meet.
Under the leadership of c/Colonel Tyler Bell, and c/1 st Lieutenant
Sharolyn Hitchcock, the team endured many hours of intense physical and
mental training to win this distinguished award

June 3-6, 2012
Texas Christian University
Camp College is a 4-day “boot camp” for soon to be juniors
and seniors. Students will be able to:
•Identify schools that match your interests and needs
•Write an application essay and create a resume
•Navigate the financial aid maze
•Learn tips, techniques, and strategies for ACT/SAT
•Attend college presentations and college fair.
Only 120 students will be taken into the program.
