3. OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY & HEALTH OFFICER
A Safety Officer according to refers to any Employee or Officer of the
company trained by DOLE or DOLE-Accredited Training Organization and
tasked by the employer to implement an OSH Program, and ensures that
it is in compliance with the provision of the OSH Standards and in the
D.O 198-18,
4. The Safety Officer main aim is to prevent accidents, injuries and work-
related illnesses in the workplace.
Their role is to create and implement health and safety policies in
accordance with the latest legislation and to ensure that these policies
are implemented by management and employees.

5. Rule 1047 of the OSHS
The Principal function of the Safety Man is to act as the employers'
principal assistant and consultant in the application of occupational
safety and health programs to remove the hazards from the
workplace and to correct unsafe work practices.
6. Serves as Secretary to the Health and Safety Committee
• Prepare minutes of meeting

14. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF SAFETY
OFFICER
a) Oversee the overall management of the OSH
Program in coordination with the OSH Committee;
b)Frequently monitor and inspect any health or
safety aspect of the operation being undertaken
with the participation of supervisors and workers;
15. c) Assist government inspectors in the conduct of safety
and health inspection at any time whenever work is
being performed or during the conduct of an accident
investigation by providing necessary information and
OSH reports as required by the OSH Standards
d) Issue Work Stoppage Order (WSO) when necessary
based on the requirements and procedures provided by
the Standards.

17. THE SAFETY AND HEALTH COMMITTEE (SHC)
The SHC refers to a body created within the workplace:
a) Tasked with the authority to plan, develop and implement OSH
policies and programs,
b)monitor and evaluate the program, and
c) Inspect and investigate all aspects of the work pertaining to the
health and safety of workers.

21. WORKER’S REPRESENTATIVE IN SAFETY
HEALTH COMMITTEE
Pursuant to Rule 1040 of the Occupational Safety
and Health Standards any establishment or
workplace must have an Worker’s
Representative.
1. Serves as members of the Health and Safety
Committee.
2. Cooperates actively with the Health and Safety
Committee.
3. Assists government agencies in the conduct of
health and safety inspection or other programs.
30. OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH PROGRAM
Covered workplaces shall develop and implement a suitable OSH
program which shall be posted in prominent places. Covered
workplaces shall be guided by a format prescribed by DOLE.
SECTION 12
The OSH program shall be communicated and be
made readily available to all persons in the
workplace. It shall be updated periodically
whenever the DOLE, other regulatory or
government agencies and institutions promulgate
new rules, guidelines and other issuances related to
workers’ safety and health.
The company shall ensure that the core elements of
OSH program are integrated in the company OSH
program such as management commitment and
employee involvement, workplace risk assessment,
hazard prevention and control, safety and health
training and education, and OSH program
evaluation.
