This document provides an overview of a professional development workshop on using digital primary sources. It discusses how primary sources can engage students and develop critical thinking skills. It then lists several websites that provide digital primary sources, such as Spartacus Educational and The Avalon Project, and how they are organized. The document emphasizes helping students understand how to make sense of evidence from primary sources. It also discusses iPad applications that can be used, such as National Archives DocTeach, that provide interactive activities with primary documents. The workshop aims to help teachers utilize all the available digital resources, both websites and applications, to incorporate primary sources into their teaching.
This document contains a lesson plan for a Grade 5 class about comparing two girls. The lesson objectives are for students to sequence events in a story and compare the two girls. To evaluate if the objectives are achieved, students will complete a worksheet writing 5 sentences comparing the two girls. The teacher plans to focus on time management during activities and check for improvement with evaluations. Materials needed for the lesson include a student book containing the story, worksheets, and a power point.

In the battle to stay organized, efficient, sane and maximize on billable time it helps to have systems in place to help deal with the daily business processes and management that make sure that you are working on what you should be and that projects, budgets and timelines stay on track. In particular, when you work on your own, its critical to have things like billing, time tracking and project management as a natural and seamless part of your workflow.
This session aims to be a whistle stop tour of some useful open source tools and subscription solutions I have found to be well worth their costs - including how they can be used effectively together to allow you to make the most efficient use of your time designing and developing Drupal sites.
I work as a remote contractor & consultant and my clients are drupal shops and companies needing web sites and systems designed, built, themed and/or maintained. These tools and services work for me to help stay organized and on top of my workload and help me to manage my responsibilities across multiple clients and timezones effectively.
The material in this session is geared more towards individual freelancers although much of it will be relevant for larger drupal shops and teams too.
A few of the topics I intend to cover will include
* Project Management with Redmine - an overview of this powerful open source project management system and a demo of some of the plugins that extend its functionality and integrate well with Drupal, Dropbox, Github, Chrome and others.
* Simplifying getting paid and easy record keeping - Easy invoicing, credit card processing and automatic importing of expenses using Freshbooks & Stripe
* Design to theme tricks and up and coming in-browser design tools and workflows using Styletiles, CSS Hat, SASS, Typekit, Typecast & Livestyle
* Faster Drupal development tips using Alfred & Sublime Text
* Rapid protoyping using Bootstrap/Zenstrap
* Site building strategies using install profiles and drush make files
* Deployment and Maintenance using Aegir
* Server monitoring using New Relic & load testing using Blazemeter
* Hosting and managing your site in the cloud
It is my aim to introduce ( in some cases briefly) tools and services that have made a difference to me that may have the potential to add to and improve your existing workflows.

This document summarizes different types of chronic laryngitis, including chronic nonspecific laryngitis (hyperemic, hypertrophic, atrophic), chronic specific laryngitis (tuberculosis), and vocal nodules. Chronic hyperemic laryngitis involves diffuse inflammation of the larynx caused by recurrent acute laryngitis or chronic infection/irritation. Chronic hypertrophic laryngitis is an advanced stage with cellular infiltration and possible vocal cord swelling/thickening. Chronic atrophic laryngitis most affects women and causes a dry, irritated cough from a dry, atrophic larynx covered in crusts. Tuberculous laryngitis stems from pulmonary TB and causes ulcers and granulomas
This document discusses challenges with attracting quality IT talent to the Maine Office of Information Technology (OIT) and recommends solutions. It finds issues with OIT's current hiring process including an unclear career page, too many clicks to apply, and reliance on Word documents. Research identifies solutions like Jobvite software which allows automated social posting of jobs, LinkedIn applications, and analytics. An interim pilot aims to improve OIT's process but lacks long term features. The document's recommended solution is to implement Jobvite to address issues like career page confusion and mobile optimization in a cost effective way.
Multiple region of interest tracking of non rigid objects using demon's algor...csandit
In this paper we propose an algorithm for tracking multiple ROI (region of interest) undergoing
non-rigid transformations. Demon's algorithm based on the idea of Maxwell's demon, has been
applied here to estimate the displacement field for tracking of multiple ROI. This algorithm
works on pixel intensities of the sequence of images thus making it suitable for tracking
objects/regions undergoing non-rigid transformations. We have incorporated a pyramid-based
approach for demon's algorithm computations of displacement field, which leads to significant
reduction in the convergence speed and improvement in the accuracy. This algorithm is applied
for tracking non-rigid objects in laproscopy videos which would aid surgeons in Minimal
Invasive Surgery (MIS).
From partial to complete smoking bans -what we have learned in spain UCT ICO
Presentation of the lessons learned by the Tobacco Unit of the Catalan Institut of Oncology on tobacco partial bans:
It is better a total ban than a partial one. But if partial bans cannot be avoided, they have to be a first step towards total bans.
Partial bans can be changed thorough action(s) joining scientists, consumers, policitians... Constant presence in mass media, forums, debates and creating alliances with policy decisors. It is not “a day” effort but a long-term run prevention of regressive changes after total bans.

Legendre transform based color image authentication (ltcia)csandit
In this paper, a fragile watermarking technique using Legendre transform (LT) has been
proposed for color image authentication (LTCIA). An initial pixel adjustment is used to ensure
that it never exceeds the range of a valid pixel component. The Legendre transform (LT) is
applied on each pair of pixel components of the carrier image in row major order. The
transformed components of each transformed pair are used to fabricate one/two/three
watermark bits starting from the first bit position (LSB-1) based on the perceptibility of human
eye on red, green and blue channel. An adjustment method has been incorporated to keep the
embedded transformed components closer to the original without hampering the fabricated
watermark bits. The inverse Legendre transform (ILT) is applied on each adjusted pair as post
embedding operation to re-generate the watermarked image in spatial domain. At the receiving
end the whole watermark can be extracted based on the reverse procedure thus authentication
is done through message digest. Experimental results conform that the proposed algorithm has
enhanced payload and PSNR over Varsaki et. al’s Method [1] and SDHTIWCIA [2].
