1. Instruction to your Bank or Building Society to pay by Direct Debit
Our vision is that no person is
harmed by a preventable infection
Join one of the UK and Ireland’s most
influential charitable organisations,
the Infection Prevention Society
The Infection Prevention Society is an independent charity with
a 2,000 strong member network across the UK and Ireland
working together for a common cause to help save lives and stop
infection developing in people receiving health and social care.
We promote the science of infection prevention through
educational events, research and collaboration with other
specialists, patient groups, governments and industry.
All of this means we can support and empower our network with
information and tools for action to drive success. We are in the
business of stopping avoidable harm and making patients and
the public feel safer so that they have greater confidence in their
care and treatment.
Healthcare associated infection affects over 6% of all patients
and remains a risk which can harm and in some cases kill as
well as having a large financial cost to people and organisations.
Our wide ranging and informed networks both nationally and
around the world along with our communication with clinical
professionals and the public mean that we play a central role in
making treatment and care safer for patients and their relatives.

I am interested in the following :
Research:
We fund and support research and development to determine what
works best, how it should be applied, the impact on patients’ lives and the
cost of healthcare.
Development:
We search for the best evidence and practice from around the world
to develop ourselves and ensure that our members can easily access this
information through our website, regular publications, conferences and
meetings. Members receive updates and informative comments on topical
matters in infection prevention and control through the use of social media.
Support:
We provide support to the Government in developing policy and assist
with advice on technical aspects for new and existing standards.
Network:
Our membership provides a perfect conduit through which to
communicate best practice. We have over 50 corporate members and we
also routinely work on projects and publications with the Healthcare Infection
Society, Royal College of Nursing and the Association for Perioperative
Practice. Furthermore we regularly run articles and educational materials in
the Nursing Times and have extensive links to all of the major infection related
organisations around the world including the World Health Organisation.
Resource:
Members receive our weekly eDigest and bimonthly Journal of
Infection Prevention. We provide a framework for our members to work across
wider horizons especially with opportunities to collaborate through inter/intra
relations in our 14 branches. In addition, we undertake and share benchmark
activity so others may measure their outputs and performance against the
best both locally and across the UK and Ireland.
Conferences and Events:
We have the largest infection prevention annual conference in the UK
and Ireland and host over 14 branch study days each year.
The Infection Prevention Society is a charity which devotes
all its income to achieve its mission of combating infection in
healthcare. Our members have access to:
