2. Plot
Man and woman see each other daily on a train to work every
morning. They don’t interact with each other, but are clearly
interested in each other. The audience see the connection they
both have with each other through voice over's of what the
characters are thinking and feeling. Eventually they get sat next to
each other due to there not being a lot of seats free and get talking
after a couple of weeks of talking on the train they arrange to meet
up one day but the male character doesn’t turn up and leaves the
female character waiting at a table in a restaurant on her own. The
female character tries contacting her love interest however, when
trying to call, it tells her the phone has been disconnected. What she
doesn’t know is that he has been involved in a tragic accident in which
has resulted in him loosing his memory and all recollection of who he
is. Five years later, his memory returns and he tries to seek her out.
They reunite on the train once again and he tries to explain, however
she has moved on with her life since that day and is now engaged, is
this the end for our star crossed lovers or just the beginning?
3. The genre of our film is Romance. We chose this
genre as we want to create a love film which
involves an essence of sweetness and cuteness
as well as an emotional tragic side. The films
that inspired us to choose this genre was ‘’The
Notebook’’ and ‘’Crazy Stupid Love’’. However
due to the film being filmed in London the film
will be a high British romance film another film
which also inspired us was; Bridget Jones Diary.

The Notebook is a 2004 American romantic drama film
directed by Nick Cassavetes and based on the novel of
the same name by Nicholas Sparks. The film stars Ryan
Gosling and Rachel McAdams as a young couple who
fall in love during the early 1940s. Their story is
narrated from the present day by an elderly man
(portrayed by James Garner) telling the tale to a fellow
nursing home resident (played by Gena Rowlands, who
is Cassavetes' mother).
• The Notebook received mixed reviews but performed
well at the box office and received several award
nominations, winning eight Teen Choice
Awards, a Satellite Award and a MTV Movie Award.
The film has gained a cult following. On November
11, 2012, ABC Family premiered an extended version
with deleted scenes added back into the original

6. Bridget Jones's Diary is a 2001 British romantic
comedy film directed by Sharon Maguire. It is
based on Helen Fielding's novel of the same
name which is a reinterpretation of
Austen's Pride and Prejudice.
The adaptation stars Renée
Zellweger as Bridget, Hugh Grant as the caddish
Daniel Cleaver and Colin Firth as Bridget's "true
love", Mark Darcy. Production began in May 2000
and ended in August 2000, and took largely place
on location in London and the Home Counties.
Bridget Jones's Diary premiered on 4 April 2001
in the UK and was released to theaters on 13
April 2001 simultaneously in the UK and in the
US. The film received positive reviews and was a
commerical success. Zellweger was nominated
for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her

received a BAFTA award for his films. Richard Curtis was
born on November 8, 1956 in Wellington, New Zealand.
He is a writer and producer, known for :Love
Actually (2003), Bean (1997), Notting Hill (1999) and also
Bridget Jones . Love Actually and Notting Hill are both
romantic films that are based around British plot.

be females in their teens and late 20s due to
the film being a romantic film and having
actors such as Ryan Gosling in it.
• The film will also be released around the
summer time which will be in the months of
June. We chose the summer time of the year
as from looking at our research we did on the
films we found that most of the romantic films
were released at this time of the year.
11. Budget
• In order to work out the budget for our film
we looked at films that involved the genre of
Romance. For example ‘The
Notebook’, ‘Crazy Stupid Love’ and ‘Bridget
Jones Diary’. From doing research on all three
of these romantic films and looking at the
budget figures we estimated that our film
will need a budget of around $37.5 million.
