9. Findings from the survey
A survey was done by our team in Chandigarh, Mohali &
Panchkula amongst the employees of the private organizations,
which includes the private banks, like HDFC, Yes Bank, etc.
Infosys and other private firms in the tricity.
The sample size was 200.
The primary data was collected via the responses through a
questionnaire.

10. • Most of the respondents speak English, but only when they are in an
official meeting.
• The respondents rarely speak in English with their family members.
• The respondents communicate with their co-workers in English only
in their offices, but outside their work, they communicate in their
local languages.
• Major of the respondents watch English movies and English TV
shows. This shows that they are well acquainted with English
language.
• We also found that English is the official mode of communication
used in the corporates to communicate with their clients. But they
use their local languages more often to communicate amongst
themselves.

11. • Making it compulsory to communicate in English within the office
premises.
• Watch English movies and talk shows to improve the level of the
language.
• The corporates can provide trainings of effective communication.
• Starting clubs wherein the members would be given trainings by
known trainers and different workshops could be organized.
