Joining industry and job-related groups on LinkedIn can help recruiters find your profile more easily in searches. Change the search box dropdown to "Groups" and search for groups in your field to join, like "Aerospace", which will improve your searchability. You can also message members of a group directly without connecting by searching for their name within the group member list and clicking "send message".

GROUPS
As a Recruiter I use LinkedIn as my primary tool for searching candidates and
gaining contact. Follow my advice and get your profile up to scratch so that
recruiters can find you!
Improve your search accessibility by joining groups that are connected to
your industry and your job roles.
In the search box at the top of your page you can change the drop down box
to ‘Groups’ and then type in your industry, so for example: Aerospace and it
will bring a list of groups that you can join.
TIP: Want to message a group member you are not connected to – Go in to
the Group, click on Members then in the search box on the left hand side,
type their name. They will appear in the search results. Do not click on their
profile, instead slide your cursor to the right of their name and you will see in
blue the words send message, click on it and you can send a message directly
to this person without being connected to them.
