Mehera Shaw Foundation is a non-profit
organization that catalyzes sustainable livelihood for
artisans engaged in artisan’s fabric craft and textile sector
value chain by empowering them to establish dignity and
create community-based livelihood through enhancing
their artisanal and business skills. Our goal is to develop
trend-driven collections of artisan fabrics for sale and
become known for the beauty of the fabric and textile
surface design by using the artisan’s knowledge,
traditional skills and experience.
MSF encourages sustainability and provides a dignified life
to the artisans and people involved in craft fabric / textile
value chain by assuring them of fair trade practices,
ethical leadership, social values, mutual respect, trust,
financial security and human touch. We aim to provide
artisans with a voice and a platform for improving the
quality of their lives and most importantly give them
collective strength to combat exploitive practices of
middle men by involving them in transparent business
value chain.

an integrated philosophy
Mehera Shaw Foundation works in an integrated and fully
transparent manner with Mehera Shaw Textiles Pvt. Ltd.,
to help people help themselves without discrimination.
Our philosophy is one of emancipation through work, skill
building, dignity. The focus is on the artisan textile sector
in India, in making viable, high-quality products for both
the Indian and foreign market. We also emphasize cradle-
to-cradle design and implementation, renewable energy,
resource building and transparency throughout the value
chain.
Mehera ShawTextiles Pvt. Ltd. a fair trade garment
production company and high-end fashion label. Both
MST and MSF together are an integrated, a vertical
business which assures product quality, supply chain
reliability, provides skills training for workers, and
maintains fair trade standards of business, transparent
communication, and ecological standards of production.
Mehera Shaw believes in integrating both our Private
Limited company with our non-profit development
foundation. We see an integrated, vertical business model
as the strongest approach to offering a high-quality, value
added product to both the high-end women’s market and
the rising middle-class market. The value-added
component is a fundamental strength--it is the human
factor--jobs creation, skills building training for rural
artisans, fair trade labour standards, supporting improved
sustainability in garment production and reducing
environmental waste.

"Helping Artisans
to Help Themselves"
--MSF Philosophy
our philosophy
humanity-work-dignity
artisan
development
Even with good environmental and labour standards,
garment production historically generates much scrap
fabric.
Upcycling is the process of converting leftover
materials into new materials or products of better quality
or for better environmental value. Mehera Shaw
Foundation intends to make productive use of this scrap
through an ongoing upcycling project and artisan skill -
building program. MSF trains artisans to make both
beautiful and marketable, high quality textile products
from production leftover scrap fabric such as those shown
here.
