1. The project
8.1.2 EXPLORING YOUR IDEAS
Name: Shapla Arjan
Title of ProjectDiversity Fashion in LondonWhat is its format?PhotographyWhat is its Purpose?Make the audience aware of the different cultures and diversity in London through fashion.Who is the target audience? Build a profile. The target audience is mainly teenage girls and older women who have an interest in fashion and enjoy exhibitions and are from London. The audience would need to enjoy exhibitions and learning about different cultures/backgrounds.How will it be produced? We will take photographs of girls in different cultural clothing in different sights in London to show the diversity. We will then organise an exhibition for our audience to come and see the photographs. What resources are needed?Camera, costumes, make-upWhat risks are involved?Being hit by a car while taking the photographs.During the audition, props and costumes might be scattered which could cause accidents such as tripping up etc. During the exhibition, the audience might touch the photographs and this might damage them. How will I overcome these risks? To overcome being hit by a car, you could get a lollipop lady to help and monitor the movement of traffic. To overcome the risk of costumes and props lying around and causing accidents, we could have a person who is in charge of cleaning up and ensuring the place is tidy. To prevent the audience from touching the photographs and damaging them, we could cordon the photographs and also make an announcement to notify them. What other issues do I need to think about? E.g. budget, time, talent etc. Each group has a budget of £30 to spend on items they need for the project. Using that money we will order some of the costumes that we need. We will also need to take out our own time to travel to our destination and take the photographs. For our journeys there and back, we will need to use our own money to pay the fares. We will also need to hold an audition to select the people suitable for the photograph shoots. We have to set ourselves a deadline considering suitability for models and ourselves. To develop our photography skills, we would need to attend photography sessions to learn how to use professional cameras to a high standard. We also need to research on different cultures and their fashion to dress the models.
