 It is Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol
 It is standard based
 It is also called Gateway Redundancy Protocol
 Which is used when primary gateway goes down.

4. Why VRRP
Primary Gateway down, no Redundancy

5. VRRP Communication
 VRRP communicates using hello Protocol
 It sends advertisements to multicast address using 224.0.0.18
 It uses IP Protocol 112
 It communicates using Virtual Mac address 0000.5e00.01xx where xx is the
group number

6. VRRP Election
 VRRP Advertisements are sent at 1 second interval
 One is elected as Master Router whereas all other routers are in the backup
router
 Master is elected by router with the highest priority
 VRRP Preemption is enabled by default
 No Tracking Mechanism in VRRP
