physical activity a
day is essential for
the proper
growth and
development of
young children
and adolescents.
Personal development, health and physical
education develops student’s knowledge and
understanding of how to lead healthy and
active lives, while fostering those skills, values
and attitudes that enable them to become
socially just citizens.
Specifically, PDHPE encourages:
• Social interaction and communication
• Healthy lifestyle habits
• A love of physical activity
• Decision making and problem solving skills
Physical activity is not only good for your
body but also good for your mind, with
studies showing regular exercise reduces
symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Australian’s ‘enthusiasm’ for healthy living has
seen our country rated as the second most
obese nation in the world.
By teaching PDHPE we can instill within our
young students the idea that staying fit and
healthy need not be a chore - that fresh and
simple eating, with regular FUN exercise is
easy and very, very good for you.
