2. -Esthesia There are two words that go with the suffix –esthesia: Anesthesia- which is defined as lack of sensations Hyperesthesia- which is defined as excessive sensations

Anesthesia There are 3 types of anesthesia: Local- specific location of the body is numbed (common to dentist and to remove moles, ingrown toenails, etc;) Regional- numbs a larger area of the body by administering anesthesia to a cluster of nerves (common in labor and delivery) General- describes unconsciousness and lack of any awareness or sensation (common in general surgery)
4. Hyperesthesia Tactile Hyperesthesia- Increased touch sensitivity Auditory Hyperesthesia- Increased hearing sensitivity (Tactile hyperesthesia may be a common symptom of many neurologic disorders such as herpes zoster, peripheral neuropathy and radiculopathies.
5. -Taxia Ataxia is a neurological sign and symptom that consists of gross lack of coordination of muscle movements. It is a non-specific clinical manifestation implying dysfunction of the parts of the nervous system that coordinate movement.
6. Types of Ataxia Cerebellarataxia indicates ataxia that is due to dysfunction of the cerebellum. Sensory ataxia indicates ataxia due to loss of proprioception - the loss of sensitivity to the positions of joint and body parts. Vestibular ataxia indicates ataxia due to dysfunction of the vestibular system.
