2. Mission & Vision
The Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC) is a nonprofit
organization that advocates youth entrepreneurship
as a solution to unemployment and underemployment.
Today, young people are turning to entrepreneurship
as a means of overcoming the lack of opportunity in a
time of economic crisis. As a result, America’s young
entrepreneurs are creating record numbers of new
businesses -- and new jobs.
The YEC exists to provide young entrepreneurs and
business owners with access to tools, mentorship and
and resources that support each stage of their
business’s development and growth.
Members of the YEC speak to college students at the White
House on a panel led by Sway from MTV.
The YEC brings together the best and brightest and most impactful entrepreneurs of our generation so we can

8. Fixing Young America
In Spring 2012, the YEC will release "Fixing Young America", a book of essays written by America's most
brilliant intellectuals, nonprofit organization founders, philanthropists, educators, politicians, and
entrepreneurs who champion entrepreneurship. From policy ideas and educational programs, to private
sector solutions and philanthropic activities, the perspectives shared in FYA will shed light on how the
government, academia, nonprofits, the private sector and ordinary citizens can work together to rebuild the
American dream for millions of young people through entrepreneurship. The book will be accompanied by
an online campaign, PR program and media series.
