Jim McClatchey has over 25 years of experience in nearly every aspect of printing. Over six of the last years has been working in digital color and variable printing. Before Strategic Imaging, he was the directing manager of the digital color department at CDS Global. Steve Schneider has over 10 years of experience in the printing industry with much of the focus being in mail presort preparation and variable data manipulation. He has created and programmed numerous projects with a detailed eye on effectiveness and efficiency. Strategic Imaging was started by The VGM Group, our parent company to help meet their need of having a unionized digital, direct-mail printer. Opened in January of 2009 with just Jim & Steve, the business began to pick up speed. We developed our own job software, estimating software, project management software, marketing plan …. And grew even faster a few great hires. We believe our success is due to our core beliefs: Provide the most relevant project information to the customer to make their print management easier and focus on helping grow the customer’s business. This makes us incredibly easy to work with and a profitable partner.
When it all comes down to “Why variable,” the answer is, “Because it works.” Imagine you were talking to a large audience of people about finances. Odds are, there are likely very few people that are truly in the same situation. Even though, you would need to generalize the message to speak to everyone because you can only talk about one thing at once. (this represents static (non-variable) printing) With variable, you have the opportunity to talk to each segment of the audience all at the same time. Which do you think would have a better response? Variable data also gives you the ability to provide an “always timely, always relevant” message through highly personalized programs that run automatically. This is an efficiency and flexibility that allows print to be nearly the same “speed” as digital.
Although you may already be doing variable data, it never hurts to see what the actual impact looks like. Many people only look at the cost per piece. Without postage, the printing cost is more than 3 TIMES MORE EXPENSIVE. This also shows how much postage can impact the price of your printing. This example shows how to maximize your OVERALL costs – and shows the more important question … “what is the cost per lead?”
What our proposition is to you is easy. We want to be the most advantageous vendor you have. Variable data takes more time to set up, which means more billable hours. The results are better, so clients are more likely to repeat the order. And the number of firms that are truly utilizing variable data well are few and far between. The competition will have a difficult time keeping up with what they can’t copy or understand.
You may already notice our difference. We don’t focus so much on what our equipment can do. We focus on how it can make you and your client more money than expected. This focus is the real difference that makes our customers keep coming back. We also provide more information to production managers so they “trust but verify” . . . Not “babysit” their print projects. This includes real-time project information, mail tracking on every piece and fast order processing. Plus, we offer some incredibly unique opportunities with full-color VARIABLE envelopes, full-color VARIABLE Post-It notes, variable mapping, image library mapping, web portals … and just about anything else you can dream up. We love a new challenge!
The next step is up to you. We appreciate every opportunity and think the best way to prove we are what we say is to work on a project for you. Otherwise, we invite you to visit our shop, schedule a face-to-face appointment, give us a new project to “chew” on or send us an estimate request.
