7.  Raja Hindu Singh laid the foundation of a village called ‘Kanhapur’ around 1700.
 The city with it industrial enterprises and India's riotous struggle for independence is the commercial
capital of Uttar Pradesh.
 It’s also the most populated city of the state. (2011 census)

8. Manchester of India
 In light of the GT road, Kanpur became a hub for textile and leather industry.
 The BRITISH INDIA CORPORATION was registered as a Limited Company on the 24th February, 1920.
The Company passed from Indian business families
of Mundras and then Bajorias between 1955 and 1962.
 In 1981 under Ministry of Textiles, Government of India
became the only P.S.U. manufacturing Woolen Textiles in
the country.

14. Brahmavart Ghat
 As per Hindu scriptures Brahma created mankind here and thus the name
Brahmavarta or the seat of Brahma.
 Bithoor name is derived from Brahmavarta.
 There is a knot in the earth which is said to be the center of the universe.
 There is also Dhruv teela , where Dhruv is said to have penaced and
pleased Brahma.

15. Valmiki aashram & Luv-kush mandir
 It’s believed that Ramayan was written at Valmiki aashram.
 It’s the birthplace of Luv-Kush, sons of Lord Ram.

16. Massacre Ghat
 Kanpur has unique place in the 1857 revolution fueled by the lives of millions of Indians.
 During Indian Sepoy Mutiny on June 27, 1857, 300 British men, women and children
were slaughtered at the Sati Chaura Ghat.
 Those who escaped the brutal fate that day were later killed at the 'Bibighar Massacre.
 It was named Nana Rao ghat after Nana Sahib of Peshwa who led the rebellion.
