1. Music Video Concept
What’s the song about?
The song is called “Arsonist’s Lullabye” by Hozier. I think this song is about someone’s
obsession with fire throughout their life and also someone’s inner demons chasing them
and getting inside their head and they cannot get rid of them.
What is your video about?
Our video is about someone’s obsession with fire throughout their life (this is how we
interpreted the song). As the person in the video gets older, they become more consumed
with the fire until it takes over them and they eventually cannot take anymore and end up
walking into it (maybe).
Is it going to illustrate, amplify or completely challenge the songs message?
This music video is going to amplify and illustrate the songs message because we are sticking
with the idea of an obsession with fire and the whole video is based around this. The music
video will also be narrative and tell the story of the obsession with fire which will hopefully
create different interpretations of this.
What is going to make this video iconic, creative and unique?
The fact that we are going to have an extreme close up shot of an eye with a fire reflected in
it. When the person is very young (at the start of the video) the fire will only be small – like a
match reflected in her eye. As they get older, the fire in their eye becomes bigger and more
consuming and begins to take up the whole of the person’s eye which represents the
demons taking over the person’s life and also the obsession with fire again. This is what we
think will make the music video unique and creative and we also have many other creative
ideas but this is the main one.
