1) The study examined the post-trauma burden faced by major disability victims and their families from five organizations. It found a lack of social support programs for victims. 2) Results showed that as the level of disability increased, so did the adjustment problems faced by families, economic burden, and stress experienced by victims. Some victims attempted suicide. 3) The conclusions call for designated personnel to provide counseling, rehabilitation, and trauma care. Community rehabilitation centers and safe community interventions need to be established to better support victims and build a healthy workforce by 2020.
