A tragic collision occurred involving three trains in Odisha ,on June 2 2023, when the coromondel express collided with a goods train and derailed and further collided with Bengaluru howrah express, on the adjacent track, claiming 288 deaths and 1175 injured.A massive rescue operation was initiated by National Disaster response force,Odisha disaster rapid action force,Fire rescue teams,police and medical team including 100 doctors and 200 ambulances,local buses transporting the injured and also extended support received from govt,NGOs ,other authorities and civilians
During the 15th meeting of international health regulations emergency committee ,on 4th May 2023 ,the covid 19 was declared as no longer a public health emergency of international concern ..With the decreasing trend in covid 19 deaths,decline in hospitilisations and icu admissions and high level of population immunity to sars cov 2 this announcement was made.
As well as, monkey pox virus disease was also declared as no longer a global health emergency.Wherein, on July 2022,it was proclaimed as global public health emergency of international significance.Following the emergency committee meeting ,Sir.Tedros, director general of WHO delivered the announcement. Indias national climate change agenda for 2030 was released,during the international climate research conclave 2023 ,held at cente of excellence in climate studies at iit Mumbai.the event witnessed participation of over 200 climate scientists,students,experts and policymakers from different parts of india and around the world.conclave focused on indias recent progress in climate research and rlsd the report “indias climate research agenda :2030 and beyond.long term research agendas in priority areas of climate research were deliberated,along with plans for creating a climate consortium involving various departments n ministries of govt of india to facilitate climate research.
Swasth nagrik swasth raashtra an innovative step towards food safety in India.The union minister dr.Mansukh mandavia inaugurated the national training centre for food safety and standards authority of india, on 1st June in Ghaziabad,uttar Pradesh.it will function as a resource and training centre for maintaining food quality standards and keeping food adulteration in india under check.the FSSAI aims to achieve the global benchmark of food safety standards, towards the goal of a healthy india and healthy Indians.the event also saw the launch of a food safety and certifcication e learning app intended for street vendors constituting training modules on food safety handling,storage and hygiene practices.
National program for prevention and control of cancer,diabetes,cardiovascular diseases and stroke (NPCDCS) in india ,which is being implemented under the NHM is being organized to include new diseases and initiatives such as non alcoholic fatty liver disease,chronic kidney disease and st elevation MI.to reflect this expansion, it has decided to rename it as NATIONAL PROGRAM FOR PREVENTION AND CONTROL OF NON communicable diseases(np-ncd).additionaly ,the comprehensive primary healthcare non communicable diseases IT system,which enables screening and management of NCDs will now be called the national NCD portal.
Poshan bhi padhai bhi a new initiative to strengthen early childhood was launched ,on May 10th, with recommendations from national education policy(click animation)To ensure that, india has the largest comprehensive network of high quality preschools in the world with all 13.9lakh anganwadis will be upgrading with quality infrastructure and trained teachers, also stipulating every child will receive 2 hours of quality preschool lessons everyday.it will promote interlinking of child hood nutrition and early education.
