More than 60% of adults
have such indications.
When sitting or standing a
stagnation of blood
occurs.
Australian adults now sit
for an average of 9 hours
a day – more time than
most spend sleeping.

Chronic venous diseases like varicose veins and
chronic venous insufficiency are among the most
frequent diseases in Western populations.
Every second person approached by the study
(56.4%) report to be having these symptoms
within the past 4 weeks.
Leg swelling reported by every 6th
man and almost every 2nd woman.
These problems can lead to
Varicose veins, DVT, PE or even
Lymphoedema.

Effects in the workplace
Over 88 million days are lost to the Australia economy
due to absenteeism, at a cost of $27.5 billion per
annum in sick leave costs and lost productivity.
Organisations who responded to the survey reveal the
cost to their business was $2741 per employee per
annum. (2013 Absence Management Survey Summary www.dhs.net.au)
By being preventative rather than reactive, many of
these sick days could be reduced.

Help from external compression -
The application of controlled, external pressure to the
limb reduces venous pressure within the limb.
And:
This prevents from having heavy and tired legs, but
also it reduces the risk of getting spider veins, reticular
veins, varicose veins, oedema (swelling caused by
fluid), deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

A study published in Phlebology 2012 –
Effect of compression socks was evaluated, the results
were that wearing compression socks reduces –
Swelling of the feet
Pain level of legs and feet
Sleep disturbances
Unattractive legs
Depressiveness
