3. The Global Value of Fintech
It’s worth looking at a few statistics, before we begin:
In 2013, the global value of fintech was estimated by ‘Statistics’
at approximately £3 billion. By 2014, fintech firms had already
attraction £12 billion of investment. And by 2015, that figure had
risen to over £20 billion, globally.
As we move on into 2017, fintech disruption continues to grow.

In my opinion, the next 20 professionals are going to making a

Financial News has nominated Matteo as one of the ‘40 most
influential FinTech executives in Europe’ (for 3 years, 2014-
2016).
Matteo has been engaged in the FinTech industry for over 20 years
and has deep connections with global banks executives, start-ups and
investors.
Founder of swiftcommunity.net, (2007) Matteo has covered various activities in sales and global
account relationship.
In 2008, he co-founded Innotribe, where he launced the Innotribe Startup Challenge (the 1st
global challenge for FinTech entrepreneurs). Most recently, Matteo created and co-founded

Markos Zachariadis is Assistant Professor of Information Systems &
Management at Warwick Business School and a FinTech Research
Fellow at the Cambridge Centre for Digital Innovation (CDI), University
of Cambridge. His research has been published in top academic
journals such as MIS Quarterly and Business History.
Markos has also been awarded the NET Institution Award for his study on the economics of
payment networks, and is the co-author of The Society for WorldWide Interbank Financial
Telecommunication.
He has been invited to present his findings to various international conferences and organisations
(Bank of England, Microsoft, SWIFT, etc) and has shared his work with Bloomberg, Fortune
Magazine, and BBC Radio.

CEO of Burnmark (a fintech research company created in partnership with
FinLeap).
Devie Mohan is also an influential writer, speaker, and commentator on FinTech. She has been listed
as ‘top 10 FinTech influencer’ by several groups.
She has helped a number of banks, FinTech start-ups, innovations groups and investors understand

‘knowledgeable, professional, and commercially astute’.
She specialises in commercial technology matters including outsourcing,
technology procurement, development and licensing, m/e-commerce, cloud
computing, blockchain and FinTech, and is the founder and chair of ‘MoFo
Women’.
Sue is currently leading Morrison Foerster’s (Mofo’s) social media and FinTech practices in London
and is a member of the firm’s global blockchain/ smart contract task force. She regularly writes

Co-founder of the Startupbootcamp FinTech: The company has not
only helped 15 young companies raise a total of $16m , but co-
founder and CEO Nektarios has taken the business model to New York
and Singapore.
What’s more is that applications are open for Startupbootcamp FinTech Mumbai, under way in
Amsterdam, and in its second year in London.
Prior to this, Nektarios was in charge of the Innotribe Startup Challenge (one of the SWIFT
network’s innovation initiatives).
Nektarios is also the co-founder of Rainmaking Innovation and was head of customer
connectivity at Clear stream Banking (Germany).

David M.Brear is a renowned speaker and one of the top FinTech influencers
to follow in 2017. He is the co-founder and CEO at 11:FS and his specialities
include FinTech, digital strategies, digital compliance, mobile banking, and
ecommerce.
11:FS describes themselves as being a specialist team of operators who have built and transformed
banks, they deliver digital research, creative insights, and rapid execution.
David has been immersed in the technology of financial services for several years and is
consistently voted one of the most influential people in banking, insurance and FinTech by banks,
